Journey "under the sea"
July 28-30 with Ariel and her aquatic friends in Disney's The Little Mermaid JR., adapted from Disney's Broadway production and the motion picture (featuring the enormously popular Academy Award-winning music and delightfully charming book and lyrics).
Based on one of Hans Christian Andersen's most beloved stories, Disney's The Little Mermaid JR. is an enchanting look at the sacrifices we all make for love and acceptance. Performances at the Rohrman Performing Arts Center

NCGLNAC annual summer Native American cultural arts classes for adults and children age 6 and up,
July 29-August 1.
Silversmithing, turtle rattles, flintknapping, black ash baskets, antler carving, beading, moose hair applique, finger weaving, cedar feather boxes.
Lecture classes: Potawatomi Trail of Death, Fur trade, Miami history and museum tour.

GIFTED: Selected Gifts to the Permanent Collection recognizes the charitable gifts that help form the Purdue University Galleries' permanent collection of art.
The exhibition features prints, sculpture, and paintings representing a wide range of media, regions, and time periods.

Elements - Earth, Water, Fire:
An artistic collaboration of pottery by Lynne Corrigan and paintings by Sonya Thomas, on display
through August 7th at the Monticello Public Library.
Lynn has been throwing pots for more that 25 years, often utilizing the Raku process which creates gorgeous and functional art. Sonya has worked in pastels for more than a decade, creating vibrant and luminescent landscape paintings.

Artisan Creations and Fashions" by Artists' Own Fiber Artists showcases treasured fibers the artists have saved. Ones that are more rare and expensive.Yet, these special fibers pose a challenge; finding just the right project to showcase them!
These seven artists have challenged themselves to combine these unique fibers into interesting and engaging creations. Join us at Artists' Own
through September 2 to see how a simple treasured piece of fiber is transformed into a piece of art.

The Supremes at Earl's All-You-Can-Eat by Edward Kelsey Moore, a New York Times bestselling novel and the recipient of the 2016 Eugene & Marilyn Glick Emerging Author Award, is this year's community-wide read.

On
August 3, guest band "The Brent Laidler Quartet" will perform
beginning at 7:30pm. The band plays jazz and will fill in for the Lafayette Citizens Band.
On
September 4, the Lafayette Citizens Band closes the season with our annual Labor Day concert
beginning at 7:00pm (note the time change). The band will perform patriotic music as well as marches and classic concert band repertoire.

Yarn Basic Guild member, Dagmar, will explain what yarn actually consists of, how it is made, and how its fiber content and construction influence its usability for weaving.

See the 2017 Purdue "All-American" Marching Band at their end-of-camp exhibition performance. Featuring music and marching demonstrations, the concert will take place on
August 19 at 7:30pm at Hull Drill Field (across from Shreve Hall, on Third Street).
Admission is free. Some bleacher space will be available and bringing your own lawn chairs is encouraged. The concert will be cancelled if there is inclement weather (there is no rain location).

Wabash Valley Youth Symphony will hold auditions for all sections on
Aug. 27 in the afternoon. WVYS is open to all qualified students, grade 6-12 who participate in their school orchestra or band where one is available.
The audition location is Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 1005 N 21st St, Lafayette. Specific times will be assigned after
registering on the website.
Some great music this season including Copland's Lincoln Portrait, Dvorak's 8th Symphony and Mendelssohn's Reformation Symphony.
