WalletHub Ranks USF as a 2025 Top Illinois University

The University of St. Francis (USF) was once again ranked as one of the best schools in Illinois according to WalletHub’s 2025 Best Colleges and Universities rankings.


In this year’s WalletHub report, which was compiled by comparing more than 800 higher education institutions across 30 key measures within seven categories that included Student Selectivity, Cost & Financing and Career Outcomes, USF was recognized as one of the top seven of the twenty-four ranked colleges and universities in Illinois. WalletHub’s rankings also placed USF as the top-ranked Illinois university in the “Campus Safety” category for a fourth consecutive year, and in the top four of twenty-four ranked Illinois schools in the Cost & Financing category. USF Kicks-off the Holiday Season with the Joliet City Center Partnership

The University of St. Francis was proud to once again serve as the presenting sponsor of the annual Light Up the Holidays Parade and Festival organized by the Joliet City Center Partnership.


As contruction in downtown Joliet progresses, this year's parade route shifted to Ottawa Street, where community members braved the cold and celebrated the start of the holiday season.

Education Summit at USF Explores Mathematics Preparedness

The College of Arts & Sciences at the University of St. Francis (USF) collaborated with the College of Aviation, Science and Technology at Lewis University on an education summit featuring a panel of experts on mathematics education and curriculum across K-12 and higher education. The summit, which welcomed math educators from the region, took place on Wednesday, September 18, in USF’s Turk Theater.


The summit served as an opportunity to enhance the connections between college and K-12 math education and explored a topic of upmost importance to area educators: math preparedness.

Thank You for Making Ambassador Day 2024 a Success!

USF extends a sincere thank you to everyone that attended the annual Ambassador Day event on Tuesday, October 15, 2024. During the event, attendees heard the State of the University Address offered by USF President Arvid C. Johnson, Ph.D., while enjoying breakfast.

American Red Cross Blood Drive on Wednesday, February 12

The American Red Cross is experiencing an emergency shortage as the nation faces the lowest number of people giving blood in 20 years. Help those in need as the University of St. Francis (USF) hosts its next American Red Cross blood drive on Wednesday, February 12, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. in the Assembly Hall Gymnasium at USF’s St. Clare Campus, which is located at 1550 Plainfield Road in Joliet. The drive is open to the community.

“Passion” is the theme for our February performances with Cleveland, Ohio-based violin soloist Andrew Sords. Andrew will join the JSO in a performance of Max Bruch’s gorgeous Violin Concerto No. 1 in g minor. We will warmly embrace the concerto with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Namensfeier Overture – which has a University of St. Francis connection – and George Whitefield Chadwick’s beautiful, but too infrequently performed, Symphony No. 2 in B-flat Major. Don’t forget to come 45 minutes early to our performances and enjoy an opportunity to learn more about the music during our “Noteworthy” pre-concert chats with Artistic Director & Conductor Sean Paul Mills and guests!

Marianne will join the JSO in a performance of Camille Saint-Saens’ virtuosic Cello Concerto No. 1 in a minor. Bookending the concerto will be Gabriel Faure’s exquisite Suite from Pelleas et Melisande and Cesar Franck’s dramatic Symphony in d minor. What an incredible conclusion to a spectacular season of soloists and music!
