Heart Connections - August 2023

GMHS was happy to participate in Clear the Shelters, an annual, nationwide adoption campaign, August 1 through August 31. We are excited to share that 108 pets were adopted from GMHS in August! Thank you to the many adopters who opened their heart and home to a homeless pet in need.

If you are ready to make a heart connection, our adoption team would be happy to provide a personalized recommendation. Simply visit GMHS Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 PM to meet your new best friend.

August 2023 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.

Mark Your Calendars

Join us for our 1st Annual Cornhole Tournament & Shelter Party Saturday, September 16 from 2-5 PM! Entry is $10 cash per player and singles and teams are welcome. The winning team gets to take home 50% of the entry fees. There will be food, drinks, and fun for the whole family!

We have a woof-tastic family activity for you Sunday, September 17!

Join us in our GMHS Lobby, where we invite you to Paint a Pet. You can pet your own pet or a shelter pet. We will provide all necessary supplies, and registration is not required.

Just drop in anytime between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, on September 17. Email with questions and for more details.

Become a Rescue Reader

Kids of all ages are invited to GMHS to read to our shelter pets year-round! Participants can share their love of books, improve their reading skills, and help enrich the lives of our shelter pets. Most animals find the human voice to be comforting and soothing, while they provide no judgement to the reader presenting.

Compassionate Community

Our hearts are filled with gratitude to Diane Perina (left), and Peter Perina (not pictured) of Eastfields Farms, and all who participated in and donated to the recent pick-your-own blueberry fundraiser for GMHS. A total of $3,154 was raised for GMHS--a generous gift with life-saving superpower--and we are grateful beyond measure to all who made the event a success!
