Heart Connections - February 2023

In February, 66 (now formerly) homeless pets made a heart connection with their forever families! Our thanks to adopters for welcoming these amazing pets into their hearts and homes. Above are just a few of the new matches made this month.

If you are considering adoption, click here to view all adoptable pets or stop by GMHS Tuesday to Sunday from 12 PM - 5PM. If you have any questions about adoption or about specific pets, do not hesitate to reach out to our adoption team at (804) 693-5520 ext. 102 or by email.

February 2023 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.

Kitten Fosters Needed

We are looking to grow the ranks of our kitten foster volunteers. From bottle babies to those who are several weeks old, kittens reared in a home grow healthy and strong before adoption or transfer to one of our adoption-guaranteed partners.

All foster volunteers receive training and necessary supplies. If you would like to join our foster team and be a super hero for our community's kittens, please contact Foster Coordinator Chevy Carper by email.

Compassionate Community

We enjoyed hosting second graders and seventh graders from Ware Academy this month. They toured the shelter to learn more about our life-saving mission and met some of the amazing homeless pets awaiting adoption into their forever homes. To our friends at Ware Academy, thank you for sharing your time, creativity, and heart for homeless pets with us!

On January 31, we shared our great need for Purina Dog Chow. We received over 60 bags of food! We want to thank all of our friends for your generous donation of pet food and supplies through our Amazon and Chewy Wish Lists. We are very fortunate to have amazing people in our community.

Become a Faithful Friend

Did you know pets at GMHS receive wellness care (testing, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick treatment) and are spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption into their forever homes?

Consider joining our Faithful Friends with a monthly donation and help us provide wellness care, spay/neuter surgery and more for the homeless pets of GMHS.

Simply check the box when donating to make yours a monthly contribution.

Each month, you'll receive the story of a homeless pet whose life was saved and transformed by your generosity.
