Heart Connections - October 2022

In October, 75 (now formerly) homeless pets made a heart connection with their forever families! Our thanks to adopters for welcoming these amazing pets into their hearts and homes. Above are just a few of the new matches made this month.

If you are considering adoption, submit an adoption questionnaire prior to your visit. Click here to get started. If you have any questions about adoption or about specific pets, do not hesitate to reach out to our adoption team at (804) 693-5520 ext. 102 or by email.

October 2022 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.

GMHS thanks everyone who came out in support of our life-saving mission and attended Shuckin' for Shelter, the GMHS Oyster Roast, on October 29! We are most moved by your generosity and support for GMHS.

We are grateful to The Inn at Warner Hall for graciously hosting the event. Thank you for extending such wonderful hospitality!

Heartfelt thanks to our 2022 oyster roast sponsors, who can be viewed here.

When a community comes together, great things happen! Many thanks for ensuring GMHS remains a beacon of hope and safe harbor for homeless pets!

Mark Your Calendar: Community Event Benefitting GMHS

Join Yorktown Pub and the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society for Barks and Brews Saturday, November 5, from 1-5 PM! Come enjoy a day on the York River, good eats, good company, and tasty brews!

#GivingTuesday offers the opportunity to play a role in saving and transforming the lives of homeless pets through our Angel Fund. Your support will help ensure ours remains a life-saving shelter. Mark your calendar for Tuesday, November 29. GMHS will be open from 12-6PM that day, adding an extra hour for visitors and adopters. There will be fun giveaways, adoption specials, and more!

We have a way you can get extra steps in, enjoy beautiful afternoons, AND help homeless dogs in need-you can become a volunteer and walk dogs at Gloucester County Animal Control!

Dog walkers at GCAC spend about an hour each afternoon exercising and socializing the dogs.

Please email Volunteer Coordinator Waynette to get involved or with any questions.

Happy Halloween from Dottie and the entire GMHS team!
