Critter Chronicles

Heart Connections - June 2023

June was a super month for the homeless pets of our community: A total of 72 pets were adopted, and 58 pets were transferred through our Highway to Home program. Thank you to all of the adopters who chose to welcome a (now formerly) homeless pet into their heart and home!

June 2023 Shelter Snapshot

The generous support of staff, volunteers, and donors enables GMHS to provide daily care, cover special medical needs, foster animals in homes as needed, and arrange transportation to adoption-guaranteed partners. We are also committed to education, outreach, and transparency. Our annual statistics are available on our website, and we also offer you a monthly snapshot.

2023 Humane Business Partners

Thank you to GMHS' 2023 Humane Business Partners for making possible our mission to save and transform the lives of homeless pets. Their contributions take many forms, and all are most appreciated. We are grateful to them for their extraordinary, consistent support and partnership and are proud to be in a community with so many businesses and individuals who share a heart for homeless pets.

If you, like our Humane Business Partners, have a heart for homeless pets, we invite you to show your appreciation by supporting and thanking them for partnering with GMHS!

Mark Your Calendars

We have a rockin' family activity for you Sunday, July 9!

Join us in our GMHS Lobby, where we invite you to create rock pets. We will provide all necessary supplies, and registration is not required.

Just drop in anytime between 1:00 PM and 3:00 PM, on July 9. Email with questions and for more details.

Kids of all ages are invited to GMHS to read to our shelter pets this summer! Participants can share their love of books, improve their reading skills, and help enrich the lives of our shelter pets. Most animals find the human voice to be comforting and soothing, while they provide no judgement to the reader presenting.

Want to know more? Stop by GMHS Tuesday-Sunday from 12-5 PM!

Kitten Fosters Needed

Critical to GMHS' ability to save these tiny lives is growing the ranks of our kitten foster volunteers. From bottle babies to those who are several weeks old, kittens reared in a home grow healthy and strong before adoption or transfer to one of our adoption-guaranteed partners.

All foster volunteers receive training and necessary supplies. If you would like to join our foster team and be a super hero for our community's kittens, please email or click here to fill out your foster application.

Support GMHS and Save Lives

Did you know pets at GMHS receive wellness care (testing, vaccinations, deworming, flea/tick treatment) and are spayed/neutered and microchipped before adoption into their forever homes?

Consider joining our Faithful Friends with a monthly donation and help us provide wellness care, spay/neuter surgery and more for the homeless pets of GMHS.

Simply check the box when donating to make yours a monthly contribution.

Each month, you'll receive the story of a homeless pet whose life was saved and transformed by your generosity.

GMHS is neither affiliated with any national animal welfare organizations nor do we receive funding from the ASPCA or the Humane Society of the United States.
