What We Are
The Earn to Learn Next Steps Program recruits, trains and deploys college students to provide college access advising to high school students located in communities who want to increase their college-going rates. Next Steps Advisors will support students as they make the transition from high school to postsecondary pathways, helping them through the complex steps toward postsecondary enrollment, admission, and the financial aid process.
Who We Are
Below is a PDF flyer that has a bit more information about the program as well as a QR Code with the application link. Please support us by sharing this opportunity with any students interested in becoming an Advisor! Attached is the job description, details, and requirements for the position.
We would LOVE if this information could be included on any school/organizational newsletters to recruit members and fill all our open positions. New positions continuously open throughout the year as they become available. This paid internship is super flexible and great for college students who would like to work anywhere from 8-25 hours/week. The biweekly living stipend varies depending on the hours served, which is offered as 300, 450, and 675 total service hour positions. Additionally, they receive professional training each month and an AmeriCorps Education financial Award at the end of their service which is currently May 26th, 2023.
Where We Are
Currently we have 30 participating sites located in Flagstaff, Phoenix, Yuma, Tucson, and surrounding areas. These sites are schools and educational organizations which provide advising services to high school students. We would love to have all 30 sites filled with an AmeriCorps Next Steps Advisor and would love your help to fill these open positions by helping us spread the word. If you know of a school or organization that is interested in participating in our program and hosting a member, we would love to explore that partnership as well! You may have heard of similar programs such as FAFSA Peer Coach and AdviseAZ. These programs are also AMAZING resources, and we often work alongside members of these other programs though we are not the same.
We would love to see what partnership we can form to help grow our program and provide college access to Arizona students. We can also discuss offering credit to our advisors (your students) within these schools to encourage participation while meeting their school requirements. Additionally, we are looking to offer a summer service position as well if that is something out may be interested in. Please let me know if we can connect through a quick meeting regarding possible options and ideas for our program going forward. We are here to support educators everywhere! I am also more than happy to present and/or table in any other opportunity that might come up. Thank you in advance, and I look forward to hearing back from you!
