Fall is getting closer and we're as excited as you are! Even though a lot will be different this year, our support throughout your Iowa State journey remains the same. We're here for you with new ways to order your favorite foods, a physically-distanced move-in process and fun ways to stay connected to each other.

This update will give you helpful information about the move-in sign-up form being sent to you on Friday, July 17, as well as a contract addendum relating to COVID-19.

We hope you're doing well and taking proactive steps to arrive on campus as healthy as possible - we'll see you soon!
Contract Addendum
Iowa State is implementing several mitigation strategies to limit the spread of COVID-19.

Things that are hopefully part of your everyday life now will definitely be part of your life on campus this fall. To help protect the health of our Cyclone community, face coverings will be required, physical distancing should be practiced, you'll be washing/sanitizing your hands and we'll have isolation and quarantine spaces available.

But we do recognize it's not possible to eliminate all risk on campus. To make sure you understand the elevated risk for exposure, the housing contract includes a COVID-19 addendum and can be found at the bottom of this page .

This is intended to give you and your family an opportunity to carefully assess your health and safety, and understand the expectations and provisions in the contract before you move to campus. We understand this agreement may not work for you. If it doesn't, you can cancel your contract without penalty by Aug. 17. Email us at [email protected] with your full name and University ID number.
Choosing Your Move-In Date
Our email last week outlined our move-in dates and the process. You will be able to choose your move-in date using the form we send you on Friday, July 17. When you get the form, you'll log in and choose a spot.

The times below are when we will send your form to you. Watch your email! The form will send about 10 minutes before the time listed below.

Can't log in during that time? Don't worry! It's just when the form for your area opens (we can't open them all at one time). The sign-up stays open until your move-in day. That way, you can log back in and change your time slot whenever you need to.

Remember, slots and dates are designed to allow for COVID-19 testing and a low number of people actively moving around in the building. The move-in groups and dates are below.

  • Aug. 3 - Aug. 7: New students living in the residence halls (with the exception of Eaton and Martin) and new families living in Schilletter Village.
  • Aug. 11 and 12: New students living in Eaton, Martin, Frederiksen and SUV; new students living in the residence halls
  • Aug. 10, Aug. 13 - Aug. 16: Returning students living in the halls and apartments.

Eaton and Martin halls are currently being used for summer school. Students do not move out until Aug. 8. On Aug. 9 and 10, we are bringing in extra staff to clean, disinfect and make any needed repairs to the space so it's ready for residents by Aug. 11.
Exceptions
There are over 9500 individual circumstances when it comes to move-in time frames.

Following public health guidance, the goals are to test everyone entering on-campus housing at the point of move in (only a certain number of tests can be done per hour); have roommates move in approximately 24 hours apart; and to limit the number of students/families actively moving items in at any given time.

There are many logistics involved, and they are designed to give our on-campus community a healthy start to the fall semester.

We will do our best to accommodate the following exceptions:
  • People who want to move in outside of their designated time frame
  • Siblings both attending ISU and living on campus who want to move in on the same day
  • Roommates who currently have regular in-person contact and want to move in on the same day

If you fit the criteria above for an exception, this is the process you need to follow:
  • Sign up for a time slot when the form is sent to you so you ensure you have a spot.
  • Email [email protected] with your preferred date(s).

Then, we will do our best to adjust your time slot and honor your request. All requests will be responded to by 5 p.m. on July 21 as to whether or not we’ll be able to honor them. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.
Your meal plan will be more convenient than ever this year and it starts by downloading the GET Mobile App from the App Store or Google Play. It's how you can order online and use contactless payment!

Our dining centers will be opening beginning on Aug. 3. Be sure to continually check our website for hours and open locations.
