Service including Siyyum on the Fast of the First Born before Passover:

It's traditional for First Born Sons to fast on the day before Passover (in recognition of the 10th plague). For those who observe this fast, there's also developed a traditional "work-around" to avoid this fast, which is to complete a course of study in the morning of that day, and it's customary to mark such a completion (in Hebrew, 'siyyum') with a celebratory nosh. In short, the tradition of having a siyyum that morning over-rides the tradition of the fast, and once you've broken the fast, there's no obligation to continue it beyond that point for the rest of the day.

There will be a morning service on Thursday, April 10th at 8:00 am (because of Shabbat, this year it moved to Thursday) including a brief teaching about Passover. It's open to everyone, whether you're a first born son or not!
