Dear Families,

As the leaves change and the air turns crisp, we’re excited to share some wonderful programs and events lined up for October! Our community continues to grow, and we can’t wait to see you at our upcoming activities.

October marks the start of a new quarter of programming for our team here at The Gathering Place. With that, we have made a few adjustments to our group meeting times and offerings based on the feedback we have heard from you! Additionally, we have some exciting new offerings to share with you.

Program Updates

1. Kids Grief and Kids Grief: Parent Group – Virtual!

We are expanding these groups to offer both virtual and in person options. If you attend either of these groups and would like a second touch-point, feel free to register for both. As we move towards cooler temperatures and into winter months, the virtual option will serve as an alternative should weather become challenging.

2. Kids Support Group – West!

We are excited to offer in person sessions for our Kids Support Group, at both our Beachwood and Westlake offices. Families are welcome to attend either or both.

3. Sibling Grief Group – 2nd Saturday

In response to parent feedback, we are moving the Sibling Grief group to the 2nd Saturday of each month alongside our Kids Grief and Kids Grief: Parent group. While kids are able to get support for processing the loss of a sibling to cancer, parents are welcome to join the Kids Grief: Parent group at the same time.

New! Tutoring and Homework Help

We are piloting a new tutoring program beginning in October! Any family touched by cancer is able to access free one-on-one tutoring or more unstructured homework help for their children.

Tutoring

Dates and times available for October are listed below. To sign up for tutoring sessions, please contact me directly: Whitney Hadley, MA, MSW, LSW, OSW-C

Homework Help

On October 12th, there will be two one-hour sessions for Homework Help immediately following groups. Below are registration links for these sessions. Registration is strongly encouraged!

Thank you for being an integral part of our community. We’re looking forward to seeing you at our upcoming events!

As always, our door is always open - please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or needs at any time!
