Since 2002, WBUR has hosted a reading of this timeless holiday tale at the Omni Parker House, the historic site of Dickens’ first performance. A thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century. We will see how people throughout history learn about their world through toys and play with this hands-on activity.

Milton - Adult Owl Prowl & Night Hike Fri, Dec 18, 7p. Nighttime can transform the ordinary into something magical! Join Trailside's Naturalist Kathleen Regan on a small group night hike into the Blue Hills Reservation. This program will begin outdoors at the museum where you will discover some of the unique adaptations of owls, practice owl calls, and meet some of the museum's resident owls. This is followed by an evening exploration to search for owls and other nocturnal life. All participants will be required to wear a face mask and abide by social distancing guidelines. Norwell - Victorian Christmas Tour Fri - Sun, through Dec 20. Discover the magic of a Victorian Christmas in an outdoor celebration of music, lights, and stories! The Victorian Christmas Tour takes you through Christmas stories of European and American traditions brought to brilliant life with dances, carols, and scenes in enchanting settings on the grounds of The Company Theatre. This event provides an opportunity to experience a charming and unique version of the holiday with Company Theatre performers and singers. From the era of Charles Dickens, carolers and spirited guides take tour-goers on a journey where strange and beautiful traditions come to life, culminating in a celebration of folk dancing, tree lighting, and a sighting of St. Nicholas! Each tour lasts a little under an hour and will conclude with complimentary gourmet hot chocolate, mulled cider, and an assortment of holiday cookies to enjoy on your way home. Socially distant photo opportunities will be indicated along the walk.

Mrs. Clause will read Twas the Night Before Christmas and some other holiday stories (time permitting). This fun activity for all ages is hosted by Downtown Taunton Foundation. Masks & social distancing required. Registration is required via Eventbrite for contract tracing. Chairs will be provided and set up in spaced out clusters with household members together. Please note that there are four 20 minute time slots for this event. Attendees are expected to leave the park immediately when their session ends so that the chairs can be sanitized and the next group of attendees can enter.

Buy tickets in advance to save at discovermiddleborough.eventbrite.com. $5 per vehicle when purchased online - $10 per vehicle when purchased at the gate. **Attendees only need to purchase 1 ticket per carload. Tickets are only good for the date purchased. Middleborough - Holiday Lights for Hope Through Jan 1. The 2020 Pandemic has created a new reality for the world, so let’s use this Holiday season to bring some Joy & Cheer to our little corner of the universe! All funds raised go to The Wily Network, a local not-for-profit that strives to provide support to students who are navigating college in the absence of a home or guardian. In many cases, the college student is left homeless during breaks or vacations, having no funds for the food or resources that we all take for granted. Your participation in this event will help support The Wily Network in delivering on their goal of keeping these students cared for during this Holiday Season! Trophies will be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd, however the real prize is the safety and security these students will experience as a result of your participation.

Gillette Stadium will be hosting  the Magic of Lights this Christmas holiday season. You and your family will be able to enjoy a holiday lights display drive thru, a 200-foot light tunnel and over 40 Scenes of holiday lights displays. The unique and thrilling family-friendly drive-through holiday lights festival is spread over a 1-2 Mile course.

Quincy - 2nd Annual South Shore Lights Holiday Trolley Tour Various dates through Dec 21st. Check out some of the South Shore's most beautiful holiday light displays, listen to music, sing songs, and make new friends! We will travel through a few towns with beautiful displays, with the potential for a few surprise detours! Halfway through the trip, we will arrive at a dining establishment where all guests can grab a drink or 2! There will also be a full bar and appetizers available to all guests!
