From the Desk of your Friendly Neighborhood CEO

The one thing I am ever sure of is CHANGE. It doesn’t seem to matter how hard we work at getting things settled, something always comes along that you don’t expect, and it forces us to change, once again. I have found that the best way to cope with change is to embrace and expect it.

That is what I had in my mind when Anew embarked on our strategic planning process in March of 2022. I wanted us to be clear-minded about what changes were necessary and how we can best position ourselves to navigate change for the better. I am thankful for all of you that completed our community survey which contributed to this process. I am proud to present our strategic plan to you and invite you to continue supporting Anew as we work toward achieving these goals.

As part of this process we affirmed our mission, developed our vision statement, and created our guiding principles.

Mission: The mission of Anew is to provide comprehensive, coordinated services to families in which domestic violence exists without imposing any one solution.

Vision: Break the cycle of domestic violence in our community.

Guiding Principles:

  • Anew works to end domestic violence by providing services to those who have been harmed, those who have done harm and by working in the community to prevent harm.
  • Change is possible for our participants, our community and ourselves.
  • Participants are the experts of their lives; we meet them where they are while providing support, education, and skills along their journey.
  • Anew recognizes that trauma impacts our participants, staff and the community at large and responds with policies, procedures and practices that are trauma-informed.

The following strategic goals will guide our work through early 2025.

I am excited to get to work on building a stronger Anew to achieve our vision.

The Community Education Program

The Community Education Department works hard to provide education and resources to all those that they come across. Through the school year, the team is hard at work providing educational programs to children of all ages in schools across the southland.

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month approaches, the Community Education team will be seen at several events and outreach opportunities. If you would like to request a table or speaker at your church, school, professional outing, girl scout troop, sorority, or any other opportunity, please reach out to Community Education Program Manager Candice White at candice.w@anewdv.org.
