Protecting Land & Water | Advocacy | Balanced Growth

Celebrating 25 Years

Our organization has spent the past 25 years forging relationships with business leaders, municipalities, elected officials, community advocates, and fellow conservation organizations. We are proud of our accomplishments, and are honored to continue to serve the Upstate by working to protect its land, water, and special character.

Some of our greatest achievements include working to spearhead the Prisma Health Swamp Rabbit Trail, protecting over 30,000 acres of land, stopping an unnecessary transmission pipeline through the Blue Ridge Mountains, engaging over 250 citizens in advocacy training and events, and managing the Saving Lake Greenwood Study.

However, we could not do any of this important work without you — our generous supporters, funders, and advocates. Check out our blog for a complete list of 25 highlights from 25 years.

Upstate Forever is a nonprofit conservation organization that protects critical lands, waters, and the unique character of Upstate South Carolina.  Over the past two decades, we have worked to protect the natural assets that make the Upstate so special — our farmlands, forests, natural areas, rivers, and clean air. We are committed to ensuring that our communities are vibrant and retain their green spaces, outdoor heritage, and unique identities in the face of rapid development and significant sprawl. Our vision is an environmentally healthy, economically prosperous Upstate that offers a high quality of life now and for future generations.
