CROSBY SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIPS

The first Crosby Scholars Scholarship deadline is

This edition of Smart Money Moves highlights all scholarships with a January 3, 2023 deadline.

Please note that all eligibility requirements are not listed below. Please visit your Crosby Scholars Student Portal for full eligibility criteria and to submit your scholarship applications!

ESSAY-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Do you enjoy telling stories and expressing yourself through writing? These scholarships are for you! While most of our scholarships do require an essay, these scholarships do not have other criteria such as GPA, academic major, or participation in a particular Crosby Scholars Program.

Friends of Bernardine Rea Scholarship



Essay Topic: Describe a time when someone unexpectedly treated you with kindness and compassion. How will this influence your future behavior?


$500 | Non-renewable


Goodwill Willpower & Art Gibel Scholarships


Essay Topic: Explain how you have weathered adversity resulting from a personal choice. How have you emerged with a story of willpower and determination?


$1,500 | $1,000 | Non-renewable


Kay Landry Scholarship Award

This scholarship is for Carver High School seniors only.


Essay Topic: Describe an impactful relationship, including important life lessons that you have gained as a result of this relationship, and its impact on your future.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Joyce Kohfeldt Determination Award



Essay Topic: Express how an event, special circumstance, or an adversity you have overcome has impacted your educational experience.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Mommie J Scholarship


Essay Topic: Describe a special friendship and how this friendship has helped shape your life.


$1,500 | Non-renewable

PROGRAM-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Are you an active member of the AAMPED Program or have you attended a week of Right Decisions/Right Now Camp? If so, these scholarships are for you!

AAMPED Scholarship


Minimum GPA: 3.0 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Explain how you will apply the principles of servant leadership to your college experience and beyond.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Right Decisions/Right Now Scholarship


Minimum GPA: 2.5 (cumulative weighted)


Personal Statement: Explain why you have chosen to remain tobacco-free.



$1,000 | Non-renewable

COMMUNITY SERVICE-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Have you spent a lot of your time volunteering in and serving your community? These scholarships are for you!

Mona W. Lovett Community Volunteer Excellence Award


For students who have provided outstanding service to the community as evidence by their nomination by a local agency.


Essay Topic: Explain what made you decide to volunteer with the organization you worked with and how you made a difference in your volunteering.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Mona W. Lovett Community Excellence in Volunteer Leadership Award


For students who have spearheaded or recruited other to participate in a service activity.


Essay Topic: Describe your journey as a volunteer leader.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Mona W. Lovett Outstanding Commitment to Service Award


For students who have completed at least 50 hours of volunteer service during their senior year of high school.


Essay Topic: Explain the sacrifices needed to perform so many hours of community service alongside the demands of academics, extracurricular activities, employment, and other commitments.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Mona W. Lovett Service and Relationships Award


For those who have made a significant commitment to volunteer services in grades 9-12.


Essay Topic: Describe a significant relationship developed through volunteering, especially one that might not have otherwise been established.

FIRST-GENERATION SCHOLARSHIPS

Are you a First-Generation College Student? You are considered a First-Generation College Student if neither of your parents have a four-year Bachelor's Degree from a college or university. If this sounds like you, then you can apply for one of these scholarships!

Kenneth Simington Scholarship Fund


Minimum GPA: 2.75 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Explain how you plan to give back to your community.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Paul Fulton First Generation Scholarship


Minimum GPA: 2.5 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Explain what "being first" means to you.


$500 | Non-renewable

ACADEMIC-BASED SCHOLARSHIPS

Check out these scholarships if you enjoy writing! While these scholarships are mainly essay-based, they also each have a specific GPA requirement you must meet to be eligible.

Carolyn "Mimi" Fox Education Award


Minimum GPA: 3.0 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Explain why you want to pursue a career as a public school educator.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

Jessica Hill Davis Memorial Scholarship


Minimum GPA: 3.0 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Describe how you have felt different from others.


$1,200 | Non-renewable

Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity Scholarship


Minimum GPA: 2.0 (cumulative weighted)


Essay Topic: Explain the themes of "My Brother's Keeper" as they relate to you.


$1,000 | Non-renewable

The Crosby Scholars Senior Program offers virtual Essay Review Services! Students who submit an essay for review will receive credit for the Senior Academy requirement.
