Palmetto Bay Celebrates Black History Month
As we join the nation in recognizing Black History Month, Palmetto Bay will be celebrating some of the special people who made significant contributions to our community.
We'll begin with former Village Manager Ron E. Williams, who led the Village for eight years and was crucial to building the solid foundation Palmetto Bay now stands on.

Unique Art Exhibit Draws a Big Audience to the Village
Perrine Community House was packed on January 21 for a showcase of artwork from the art dorm at the Everglades Correctional Institute. This unique group of male inmates receives ongoing art instruction and has access to art supplies at all times, allowing the men to use creativity as a form of self-expression and personal transformation. Mayor Karyn Cunningham, Vice Mayor Leanne Tellam, Councilwoman Marsha Matson, Miami-Dade County State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle, and other dignitaries joined with officials from Art South to welcome a huge crowd of art enthusiasts. Family members of some of the artists attended as well, lending a very personal touch to an event that focused on the healing power of the arts for both the artists and their audience.
