Voting for Tree of the Year Ends Soon! | | |
The Village of Palmetto Bay is known for its lush canopy and strong commitment to protecting the environment, and now residents have a chance to celebrate that natural beauty by voting for the community’s 2026 Tree of the Year.
Three trees are finalists in this year's contest, each with its own unique appeal. As voters read about each one, they'll see how special these trees are to our community!
Each year, the Village hosts the Tree of the Year program to highlight the trees that help define Palmetto Bay’s landscape. The competition recognizes not only remarkable trees—whether they are historic, beautiful, or meaningful to a family or neighborhood—but also the residents who care for them. After nominations are submitted and finalists selected, the final winner is determined by community vote.
Voting is a fun and meaningful way to show appreciation for the trees that shade our streets, support wildlife, and add character to our community. As a proud Tree City USA municipality, Palmetto Bay works year-round to preserve and expand its tree canopy, helping create a greener, healthier place to live.
The winning tree will be recognized by the Mayor and Village Council and featured in Village media.
Take a moment to cast your vote and help crown the 2026 Tree of the Year. It’s a simple way to celebrate the natural beauty that makes Palmetto Bay such a special place to call home!
| | New Financing Option for Home Improvements! | | |
The Village of Palmetto Bay has approved Home Run Financing to offer Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) as a home-improvement financing option for property owners. PACE covers hurricane hardening home improvements as well as energy efficiency projects. In Miami-Dade County, this financing option also covers septic-to-sewer conversions and flood protection improvements, including seawalls, that can reduce a homeowner's flood insurance premiums.
An early PACE adopter, Palmetto Bay voted unanimously to expand PACE to include industry leader Home Run Financing, at the request of a homeowner.
"In Palmetto Bay, we believe that strong communities are built by empowering residents to shape the future of their own homes," said Mayor Karyn Cunningham. "By expanding PACE to include Home Run Financing, we are opening the door to a new generation of sustainable, resilient, and energy-smart living. This partnership reflects our vision of a village where innovation strengthens every household, where families have access to the tools they need to thrive, and where our commitment to the future is matched by real action today. Together, we're not just improving homes — we're investing in a stronger, more resilient Palmetto Bay for decades to come."
Palmetto Bay has now approved all residential PACE providers to operate locally, as have most cities in Miami-Dade County.
