Personal Care at your NM State Fair!
Parents Reaching Out is proud to offer Personal Care Spaces in addition to our Sensory Station at this year's New Mexico State Fair.
These private, self-monitored spaces are available for individuals and families who need a quiet, clean area for personal care needs. Whether it's changing clothing, attending to medical or hygiene needs, breastfeeding, or simply taking a moment to regroup in privacy, these spaces are here to support dignity, comfort, and inclusion.
Our goal is to make the State Fair more accessible so everyone can participate with confidence. The Personal Care Spaces are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are intended to be used respectfully by those who need them.
We look forward to helping make your fair experience welcoming, comfortable, and accessible for all.

Inclusion Map
Everyone experiences the fair differently. The Sensory Map helps visitors identify areas around the fairgrounds that may be louder, busier, quieter, or more sensory-friendly so they can plan their route and take breaks when needed.

Quest Chronicle
Planning your fair adventure just got easier! The Quest Chronicle provides helpful information, tips, and things to know before visiting the New Mexico State Fair. Use it to prepare for your day and make the most of your fair experience.
|
Visual Schedule
A big day at the fair can feel overwhelming when you do not know what to expect. Our Visual Schedule helps visitors see and plan their day step-by-step, making it easier to prepare for the sights, sounds, activities, and experiences ahead.
|
Wait Cards
Waiting can be difficult for anyone, especially in busy and unfamiliar environments. Our Wait Cards provide a simple visual tool to help individuals understand that they need to wait and offer support during lines, transitions, and other moments throughout the fair.
|
Communication Board
Communication should never be a barrier to enjoying the fair! Our Communication Board gives individuals who are nonverbal or have communication differences a way to point to pictures and express their needs, wants, feelings, and choices while attending the fair.

Preparing for an IEP Meeting
In this episode, we talk about practical ways families can get ready for an IEP meeting and feel more confident participating in the process.
We'll discuss what families should review before the meeting, questions they can ask, who they can bring with them, how to identify their child's strengths and needs, and what to do if they don't agree with something being discussed. Most importantly, we'll talk about how families can make sure their voice, and their child's voice, is heard.
Whether you're preparing for your child's first IEP meeting or you've been through many of them, this episode will provide tools and ideas to help you feel prepared, informed, and ready to be your child's best advocate.
