Horizons Club Field Trip!
We love that field trips are back! We recently took our Horizons students to Peoria's Owens Center to go ice skating and learn about careers at the Park District. The kids (and us!) had a ton of fun learning new skills. Check out the pictures below!
For more information or any questions about our Horizons program, contact Trish O’Shaughnessy at (309) 696-3406 or e-mail patricia.oshaughnessy@psd150.org
Student Art Displayed at the Peoria Riverfront Museum
Peoria Public School students who submitted their artwork to our Facebook HeART Contest recently had their worked displayed at the Peoria Riverfront Museum. A reception to view these amazing pieces of art was held for the students and their families. The students were then given their framed artwork to take home. We love seeing all these outstanding artists in Peoria Public Schools!

Congratulations to Shannon Marlin, the Peoria Public Schools Director of SIS/Student Affairs and her team at the District’s Accountability and Research Department for being chosen as our Heroes of the month. Shannon and the research staff are a huge force behind the scenes. We are so appreciative of their help tracking and managing important data for our programming and accessing student information needed to help execute our work. They are always willing to help, usually at the last minute, to make sure mailings and communication to our families happen. Thank you so much for all the hard work Shannon and her team do!
This month we caught up with Peoria Public School's Matt Fogelmark. Matt runs the PPS Print Shop and helps with textbooks and other warehouse operations. He has been with the school district since 2015 and does an outstanding job. Check out his answers below to get to know him better!

Thanks for talking with us, Matt! What's your favorite part of your work day?

I really enjoy the work I do with the Curriculum Department ensuring that all students have the textbooks they need in order to succeed. I also enjoy the diversity in my job. I get to run our Print Shop, work with textbooks and also help out with our Warehouse Operations.

If you could go to any place in the world, where would it be and why?

I would definitely go to Ireland before anywhere else. My wife and I both enjoy playing golf and ghost hunting. Ireland has so many beautiful golf courses that I’d love to play on. Plus, there are so many beautiful, old haunted castles to explore!

Do you have a favorite type of music or favorite band?

I really do love all kinds of music. My favorites would be 80’s hair band music and Country. I was a big fan of Poison, I saw them in concert 13 times. My favorite Country artists would be Blake Shelton, Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert.

What was the last movie/TV show you watched and loved?

We don’t really watch a lot of movies anymore but the most recent one I’ve seen that I really enjoyed was the latest The Fast & The Furious movie. On TV, I enjoy the FBI series and all the Chicago series. But my favorite thing to watch live and on TV are Detroit Lions football, St. Louis Blues hockey and St. Louis Cardinals baseball.

And lastly, what’s your favorite restaurant in Peoria?

That’s a tough one, I have several local restaurants I enjoy. We eat at Double A’s and Weaver’s quite often. I also enjoy Childers but that’s probably because my son is a Chef there! My favorite pizza is at The Warehouse in Hannah City.

Matt frequenly helps the PPS Foundation with the printing of our marketing material, and we are so appreciative of his help! Thank you for chatting with us, Matt!
