We've just about made it through 2020, and that is something to celebrate. I'd like to thank all of our partners who supported the Big Country HBA through a very challenging year. We are really looking forward to 2021 with high hopes and anticipation that we will return to "normal" and be able to bring you our regularly scheduled events. Speaking of our partners, BCHBA Partner Businesses play a vital role in our association. The 2021 Marketing Guide is now available and you have until December 11th to jump on board. For more information on how you can become a partner in 2021 and add to the value of your sponsorship dollars, please contact Terah Ward at the HBA Office.
While we were really disappointed to cancel the HBA Christmas party for this year, we did so with the health and safety of our members at the forefront. Before the spike in COVID cases hit, we were able to host the 4th Annual Strikes Against Hunger Bowling Tournament on November 5th. We had about 75 people in attendance and we had a really great time raising money for the Christian Service Center of Abilene. I want to give a shout out to Big Country Title for their “King Pin” sponsorship and for annually supporting this event each year. Other partner businesses that deserve our recognition are Centennial Title, ACME Brick, Taylor Telecom, ACS Heating & Air, AEP Texas, All American Door and Atmos Energy. It is because of your participation and support that we will be able to present the Christian Service Center with a check for $3878.00 which is our largest charitable contribution to date. In the 4 years we have been hosting this event, the HBA has been able to give back $12,500.00 to help this awesome organization. That’s pretty incredible and we are so thankful for our members who help us achieve these goals. Congratulations to the Taylor Telecom team for taking home the prize money.
A reminder to all our builder members. The Parade of Homes Committee will be hosting their first builder meeting for the 2021 event. If you are interested in featuring a home in this year’s parade or just want more information, we encourage you to attend that meeting. The meeting will be held on Tuesday December 15th at the HBA Office and will begin at 9 AM. Please let us know if you plan to attend by using the Registration Link provided in this newsletter.
Be sure to visit our website to check the calendar of events. There you will find all the proposed dates for our annual events as well as our monthly luncheons. Be sure to get these items on your calendars so you never miss an HBA networking opportunity. As we near the end of the year, we also encourage you to login to your member portal to make sure all of your membership information is accurate and up to date. One of the most important things we need from our members is updated contact info for correspondences throughout the year.
This has been a challenging year, but we have much for which we can be thankful for. In the midst of a pandemic, those of us who are healthy can be doubly grateful that we are. Our health is no small thing, and my heart goes out to those who have lost loved ones, or whose loved ones are sick right now. I want to wish you and your family a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous new year to come.
