Girls Beach Volleyball wins
6th consecutive IBVL title!

The Mira Costa Girls Beach Volleyball team won their 6th Consecutive IBVL Championship this past weekend to be named the Southern Pacific District Champions once again! Costa defeated Notre Dame Academy in the quarter finals, Redondo Union in the Semi’s, and hard fought matches versus Laguna Beach in the finals. Mira Costa Choirs Take Top Honors at Recent Festivals
Over the past weeks, Mira Costa Choirs have been very busy and extremely successful:
April 18th, Vocal Ensemble performed at the SCVA (Southern California Vocal Association) Choir Festival at Palomar Community College. Singing for two judges, they received a high Superior rating and glowing comments from not only the judges but from other directors and students from other schools. Read More
Mira Costa Softball Team is Co-Champions of Bay League!
Mira Costa Softball is going into CIF playoffs with an overall record of 18-11-1, 8-2 in Bay League. The Mustangs are Co-Champions of Bay League with Palos Verdes, a team they beat twice this season.
Head Coach Brittany Gardner, in her 2nd season coaching varsity, was successful in guiding the team to another Bay League title and CIF playoff run.

The Mira Costa Varsity Baseball team takes on West Ranch in the 2018 CIF Southern Section Baseball Championships – Division 1 on Friday, May 18th at 3:15pm.
The playoff will be a home game on the Costa Varsity field.

Costa Volleyball Wins Bay League; competes in CIF Quarterfinals!
Mira Costa defeated Redondo Union on the road in its last league game of the season to take the Bay League title outright, with a record of 9-1.
Costa was seeded 5 th  going into the CIF playoffs. The team first faced Aliso Niguel High School, winning easily in three sets in a match that saw every player on the team make a contribution on the court.
Costa Track and Field posts outstanding results at
2018 Bay League Championships!
Mira Costa Track and Field wrapped up the regular season with some outstanding results! The Mira Costa Boys Varsity team achieved 10 new PR’s and 4 Season Records.  The 2018 Bay League Champions included Senior Xavier Court who took the honors for the 3200 and Junior Andrew Sandburg won the Pole Vault with a PR of 15′.  4×400 honors went to Cody Kallenbach, Quinn Satow, Cormac Carew and Andre Nieto. Costa Diver Jacob Haim secures spot in State Championship!
Costa Sophomore, Jacob Haim, competed in the CIF Division 2 Dive Meet on Monday, May 7th at the Riverside Aquatics Complex. He placed 3rd in D2 which qualified him for the finals on Saturday, May 12th. Read More

Everyone is looking forward to the final two Band Concerts of the season.
Costa’s award winning Jazz Bands will perform first on Wednesday, May 23rd at 7 PM in the MCHS Small Theatre Tickets are $10 and FREE for students with ID and senior Citizens. Read More
Golfer Max Huggins advances to CIF Southern Section Championship
Despite having a broken putter minutes before his tee time, Junior Max Huggins prevailed at the CIF Southern Section Individual Regional Tournament held at Skylinks Golf Course last week. Competing in a field of about 120 players, Huggins shot a two under par 70 to finish in 8th place. He is thankful Culver City Coach Adan Pulido was able to loan him his Scotty Cameraon putter. He advances with the top 20 to the CIF Southern Section Championship at Rancho San Marcos on May 17th.
Boy’s Lacrosse finishes season with
both Varsity and JV
taking 2nd in Bay League!
Boy’s Lacrosse had a great season with Varsity and JV coming in 2nd in Bay League.
Varsity finished 12th overall for the L.A. section out of 58 programs – way to go!

Orchestra annual Pops! Concert is final performance of the year
Orchestra students are hard at work preparing for their last performance of the year, the annual Pops! Concert. This is always a fun and energetic concert as the different orchestras perform a variety of selections of popular music!
The concert will take place on June 5th at 7 pm in the Mira Costa Auditorium. Tickets are $10 at the door; senior citizens and students are free.
G.R.A.D. NITE is on June 14, 2018 – Parent Volunteers needed!
We need parent volunteers! We have opportunities for both check-in volunteers and overnight chaperones.

Shout out to former Costa Rugger Pioneer, Justin “JJ” Johnson!
Former Costa Rugger Pioneer Justin “JJ” Johnson helped lead his Life Uni­versity Running Eagles to a complete destruction of an extremely strong California Bears side 60-5 in the College D1A National Championship.

The Costa Old Boy Johnson was the starting (#6) Blindside Flanker for Life. Justin was all over the pitch hammering the Bear runners and constantly rucking at the breakdowns throughout the match. JJ accounted for 5 carries during the day including a 32 meter burst through the Bears’ defensive back line offloading to a teammate who in turn passed to another teammate for another Life score.
