Sunday, Nov. 19 - 9:30 am

Psalm 121 is a very familiar psalm and much beloved too. (It's Pastor Nate's favorite Psalm) As we have been exploring the psalms, we end our November series with a psalm intended to be read before a journey, before travel. Whenever we go to unfamiliar or to new places, we perhaps wonder, "will I be okay?" As followers of the Lord, our lives are guarded and guided by the one who made the heavens and the earth. Thanks be to God!

Prepare for worship by reading Psalm 121

WELCOME Haley!

We’re so pleased to introduce Haley Schepers. Haley is a recent graduate of Wartburg Theological Seminary and has begun her work with us as Director of Faith Development. Haley and her husband Ethan( a Ph.D. student at Iowa State) reside in West Des Moines. Haley worked as an Outreach Minister at Lutheran Church of

Hope in Ames prior to her call to serve at New Life. She was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, and she followed in her parents’ footsteps and completed her undergraduate degrees at the University of Nebraska in Marketing and Management. Her father played football for the University of Nebraska, and she is a proud Husker fan in Iowa/Iowa State territory. She is passionate about helping parents gain confidence in being part of their children’s faith journey and making the big themes and stories of the bible accessible to children in a fun way through discovery-based activities!

Chili Cook-Off This Sunday - ARE YOU READY?

It’s time for one of NLLC's favorite traditions - the Great Annual Chili Cook-Off! Dust off those recipes, refresh your supply of spices and make plans now to take on the competition (or just ready your taste buds for the treat of experiencing all the good flavors) November 19 is the date, 11 am is the time. This year we are asking you to bring a few cans of chili fixins’ to share with patrons of the Food Pantry. See you there!

Bonfire

All Middle & High School students are invited to join with youth groups from Norwalk Christian Church and Norwalk Methodist Church for a bonfire at New Life on November 19 from 6 - 8:30 pm. Make plans to join us and feel free to invite a friend! We'll make s'mores, assemble blessing bags and play an epic game of glow stick capture the flag. Contact Haley with any questions.

Warrior Christmas Giving Project  Each year, through the Norwalk Area Ministerial Association, we collect gifts for families who are in need right here in Norwalk. We have adopted 8 families. Family "wish lists" are available online at newlifenorwalk.org and tags are available in the south entrance. Gifts need to be returned to the church (shipped direct or dropped off) by Dec 10. Monetary gifts should be made payable to the Norwalk Area Ministerial Association. Please note: gifts should not be wrapped, however if you’d like to include gift wrap or bags with your gift, it would be most welcome.

Advent Evening Prayer In Advent, we will be offering an Advent Evening Prayer service. This intentionally short, but reflective service will center you and your family in the weeks leading up to Christmas. Perhaps Sunday mornings are difficult with your schedule, try Sunday evening! We hope you'll join us on Sunday evenings at 6 pm on Dec. 3, 10 and 17.

Journey Sunday School

Sunday School meets at 10:45 - 11:30 am following morning worship. On November 26 we will start our Advent series Heros of the Nativity. Please note that we will not meet on November 19 due to the Annual Chili Cook-Off.

Text to Pray We’re experimenting with some Artificial Intelligence with a new Text to Pray tool called Gloo. Pastor Mike and Pastor Nate monitor this software regularly. We’d love for you to text prayer concerns throughout the week to 833.223.7923. It’s a work in progress, so we appreciate you trying it out, but also your patience too.
