February Spotlight Event

USF Athletics invites the COPH to be recognized at the women’s basketball game this February. They will be providing two complimentary tickets for each faculty and staff member. Students can receive free tickets to basketball games by claiming their tickets through the Herd Perks App or showing their student ID at the Gate D ticket office at the Yuengling Center.

Moffitt Career Day at USF

Join USF Health and Moffitt Cancer Center for the first-ever Moffitt Career Day at USF. The event will consist of an all-day tabling fair, breakout sessions hosted by Moffitt faculty and an optional networking lunch. Learn about career opportunities at Moffitt, explore your career interests and network with Moffitt professionals and employers!

Forklift Safety Awareness

The Forklift Safety Awareness course educates managers, supervisors and safety coordinators on the hazardous conditions related to forklift usage. This course will provide insight into OSHA standards and best practices, enabling participants to identify forklift hazards and implement control measures effectively.

Fall Protection

This course provides comprehensive coverage of the OSHA Fall Protection Standard for construction. It will encompass principles, components and limitations of fall protection systems while offering hands-on workshops for equipment inspection, training requirements and program development to ensure students can assess compliance and implement effective fall protection plans.

COPH Alumni Society Meeting

All COPH alumni are welcome to join the leadership team for their monthly meetup! They plan events, host fundraisers and discuss other matters of importance to COPH alumni.

Deadline to Nominate an Outstanding Woman in Public Health

The COPH recognizes the contributions that women make to the field and honors them annually with the Florida Outstanding Woman in Public Health Award. Nominations are currently being accepted for 2024.

Job Hazard Analysis

This course delves into OSHA’s Job Hazard Analysis guidelines, exploring its purpose, requirements and techniques. It will foster an understanding of the relationship between worker tasks and tools and equip students with practical skills for identifying and analyzing job hazards to enhance workplace safety.

Leave Your Mark on the World Featuring Dr. Lynette Menezes

Drop in for a free lunch and opening remarks by COPH alumna Dr. Lynette Menezes. Following the remarks, stick around for the annual Cultural Bowl Trivia Competition!

Cultural Bowl Trivia Competition

Following the opening remarks from the speaker, participate in a Kahoot trivia competition. The top three winners will receive gift cards in the amount of $20, $15 and $10 respectively.

Casual Conversations Over Coffee

This event will be led by the Diversity & Inclusion Student Action Committee. Free coffee will be served along with an activity featuring a different region of the world each morning from Feb. 20-22. Participate for a chance to win a Multicultural Week coffee mug.

The Safe Zone Training Program aims to educate participants on advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community by promoting understanding, support and inclusivity through interactive conversations and activities.

This event will feature a panel discussion on celebrating PRIDE, navigating coming out, embracing professional authenticity and fostering relationships with patients and colleagues.

Black History Month Film Screening: Wounded Places

This event will be hosted by the Black Student Nurse Association. Join us as we watch a documentary, “Wounded Places.” A discussion will follow where we will apply a health care lens to inspect trauma, gun violence and poverty in America. Movie snacks (popcorn, candy and drinks) will be provided.

Cultural Fiesta

Come out to this fun event featuring six cultural food tents, music and performances. Enjoy food from vendors with Tampa Bay Markets. Free $10 meal vouchers for the first 300 people.

Loneliness and Social Isolation Across Groups Tabling Event

Hosted by the USF Health Activist Lab, come out to this event for games and information pertaining to loneliness.

International Student Lunch

Principles of Ergonomics

This course delves into ergonomic principles to identify, evaluate and manage workplace conditions contributing to musculoskeletal and nerve disorders. Topics include work physiology, musculoskeletal disorders and risk factors like repetition and lifting.

Safety and Health Management Program

Participants will learn to implement workplace Safety and Health Management Programs according to OSHA guidelines, covering fundamentals, recordkeeping and program assessment.
