These quick 15-minute trainings will impart essential skills to pedestrians and bicyclists alike, as they embark on our roadways this summer. OSHA Authorized Outreach Trainers for the Construction Industry are required to attend the Update for Construction Industry Outreach Trainers course once every four years to maintain their trainer status. There are no extensions or grace periods for expiration dates. If your OSHA training card is about to expire, you will need to complete update training to maintain your trainer status.

This course covers OSHA standards, policies and procedures in general industry. Topics include scope and application of the OSHA General Industry Standards, general industry principles and special emphasis on those areas in general industry that are most hazardous.

Record-Keeping Rule Seminar

Many employers with more than 10 employees are required to keep a record of serious work-related injuries and illnesses. Minor injuries requiring first aid only do not need to be recorded. This course covers OSHA requirements for maintaining and posting records of occupational injuries/illnesses and reporting specific cases to OSHA.

Collateral Duty Course for Other Federal Agencies

A collateral duty is a task or tasks carried out by employees that lie outside of their main role. This course covers the OSH Act, Executive Order 12196 and the OSHA General Industry Standards. This course is intended for federal agency collateral duty safety and health personnel. With use of the OSHA General Industry Standards, special emphasis is placed on areas in general industry that are most hazardous.

Hazardous Materials

Hazardous material is any item or chemical that is a “health hazard” or “physical hazard” that is commonly referred to as HAZMAT or Dangerous Goods by industry and the U.S. This course covers OSHA General Industry Standards and other consensus and proprietary standards that relate to the use of hazardous materials. Course topics include flammable and combustible liquids, compressed gases, LP-gases and cryogenic liquids. Related processes such as spraying and dipping and use of electrical equipment in hazardous locations are also discussed.

Suspended Scaffold Safety Awareness

Suspended scaffolds are platforms suspended by ropes, or other non-rigid means, from an overhead structure. This course is designed to give site supervisors, foremen and safety managers a detailed overview of the hazardous conditions associated with suspended scaffold use and installation. It covers the identification, evaluation, prevention and control of suspended scaffold hazards.

Cranes in Construction

To a crane operator, few experiences may be as frightening as when a crane becomes unbalanced while a load is being lifted or when the crane collapses under the weight of an excessive load. This course covers the best practices in crane and derrick operation using the OSHA Cranes and Derricks in Construction Rule as a guide. Course topics include hazards associated with crane assembly and disassembly, types of cranes, lifting concepts, rigging and wire rope, signaling, employee qualifications and training and maintenance, repair and inspection requirements.

Managing Excavation/Trenching Operations

This course covers the requirements to manage excavation/trenching operations. The course will include an understanding of the OSHA excavation requirements, excavation/trenching hazards and control measures. Additionally, participants will learn about soil analysis techniques and protective system requirements. At the conclusion of this course, participants will understand how to manage excavation/trenching operations.

Introduction to OSHA for Small Businesses

Small employers place a high value on the well-being of workers. Like many small businesses, you may employ family members and personal acquaintances; if you do not know your workers before they are hired, the size of your workplace will promote the closeness and concern for one another that small businesses value. This course covers an introduction to the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and the OSH Act for owners and managers of small businesses.

Introduction to Process Safety Management

Unexpected releases of toxic, reactive or flammable liquids and gases in processes involving highly hazardous chemicals have been reported for many years, in various industries using chemicals with such properties. This course provides an overview of the elements of Process Safety Management covered under the U.S. Occupational & Safety Health Act (OSHA) Process Safety Management (PSM) Standard, 29 CFR1910.119, established to reduce chemical accidents and manage the release of highly hazardous flammable and toxic chemicals.
