Novato’s 2021 State of the City Address: Submit Your Questions or Comments for the City Manager by 5pm March 12!
Please join City Manager Adam McGill for Novato’s 2021 State of the City Address on Wednesday, March 17 at 5:30pm. This year’s event, presented by the Novato Chamber of Commerce, will be held virtually via Zoom at zoom.com, please use Event ID: 898 7801 3885 and Event Password: 738967 to join.
The City welcomes questions and comments from the community for the City Manager prior to the address at novato.org/opennovato. Online submission period closes on Friday, March 12 at 5pm.

Costco Gas Station
At their March 9 meeting, the Novato City Council approved the proposed Costco fuel facility at the Vintage Oaks Shopping Center which will include the installation of 10 electric vehicle charging stations.
In a related item, Council unanimously approved improvements to Rowland Blvd, including new parking, and bicycle and pedestrian improvements behind the shopping center.

Marin County COVID-19 Update
This week, Marin County’s Public Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis provided a video update of the County's Public Heath team efforts over the past year with a focus on the important role of the Marin Center in our community response.
Dr. Willis also announced that the Marin County Fair will be virtual again this year with smaller and safer alternatives for families.

COVID-19 Testing Information
Looking for COVID-19 testing in Novato? Residents have access to two local sites offering free, safe and easy testing.

Novato High School (625 Arthur Street): Tuesdays from 1pm-3pm (walk-in and first come, first served)

Novato Library (1720 Novato Blvd): Fridays from 10am - 4pm. By appointment only.
Drive-thru testing is offered at the Marin County Civic Center "Armory Parking Lot" along Civic Center Drive in San Rafael on Sundays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 11am - 5pm and on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8am to 2pm.
To schedule an appointment at the Novato Library or the County Civic Center drive-thru, please visit the Curative website.

Marin County Small Business Fund Application Period Ends March 15
Qualified small business owners in Marin County may apply to receive a portion of $915,000 in federal relief funding targeted to businesses hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The money will be in the form of grants of no more than $10,000 and interest-free loans of no more than $50,000.
As recommended by the Marin County Community Development Agency, 27% of the Marin County Small Business Fund will be targeted for businesses in or near Novato. Businesses will be selected by a lottery because of the expected high demand for assistance and forms must be submitted by March 15.

Weekends are Better on Grant Avenue!
Head Downtown for Weekends on Grant! Each weekend, Grant Avenue will be closed between Reichert and Machin Avenues to create pedestrian-only access from 4pm on Fridays to 7am on Mondays (weather permitting).
The DNBA’s Facebook page will be updated each Friday at noon with street closure details. A friendly reminder that all visitors and businesses must continue to follow County guidelines regarding face coverings, social distancing, and good hygiene practices to help create a space where our community feels comfortable while visiting Downtown.

It is not too late to Apply for a Commission, Committee or Board: Make a Difference in Your City!
If you have an interest in serving your community, applying for a position on a Commission, Committee or Board is a great place to start! Commissioners have a chance to be involved in upcoming projects and policies in the City and make recommendations to the City Council. There are a number of openings available now!
The application period is currently open through March 15 at 5:00pm. Applicants will be interviewed and appointed by the City Council.

The Transportation Authority of Marin seeks your input to help find bike parking locations for a new bike sharing system of 300 electric bikes near SMART stations in Marin and Sonoma counties.

Stay Healthy Novato
The best way to reduce the risk of becoming infected with respiratory virus, whether the flu or coronavirus, is to practice good hygiene:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Wear a face covering when out in public spaces.
- Maintain 6 feet distance from those outside of your own household.
- Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue or crook of your elbow (not your hands). If you use a tissue, throw it away and wash your hands afterwards.
- Avoid touching your face.
- Stay home when you are sick, except to get medical care.
- Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
- Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
- Get your flu shot.
