We hope everyone had a safe and happy holiday. We are ready to start 2017, and look forward to all the exciting things Kamloops Sports Council has to offer this year!
NOMINATIONS ARE OPEN FOR THE KAMLOOPS SPORTS COUNCIL ANNUAL ATHLETIC AWARDS!

The Athletic Awards have been awarded annually since 1990 in conjunction with the Kamloops Sports Hall of Fame Banquet
which will be held this year on April 8th, 2017.

Nominations for the 2016 Athletic Awards for the following categories are now open:

Female Athlete of the Year  - Sponsored by LN Group
Male Athlete of the Year - Sponsored by Kamloops Minor Baseball
Master Athlete of the Year - Sponsored by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 52
Coach of the Year -  Sponsored by Tim Hortons
Team of the Year - Sponsored by Kamloops Blazers Sports Society
Sport Person of the Year - Sponsored by Daley and Company LLP Chartered Accountants
International Excellence -  Sponsored by PacificSport Interior BC
University Award - Sponsored by TRU WolfPack

Criteria:

To qualify for the Annual Athletic Awards, any nominee, able-bodied or with a disability, who has made a significant contribution to sport in the past calendar year, is eligible. Nominees will be judged on their performance in the past calendar year. (2016)
All nominees must have resided in Kamloops in the calendar year of nomination OR be a member in good standing with a recognized Kamloops Club/Association.
Self nominations are encouraged!

Tourism Kamloops has put together an information sheet for visitors so they can easily access all that Kamloops has to offer. You can view and download the  information sheet, or check it out on their  website  for more information. 
River City Racers Speed Skating Club is looking for volunteers for their upcoming winter triathlon POLARTHON event.

Various volunteers are needed the day of the event, January 21st, at Stake Lake between  8:30 am and 12:30 pm.

KAMLOOPS TRACK AND FIELD WINTER SESSION
Kamloops Track and Field Track Rascal group will start a Winter  session beginning  Wednesday, January 11th  and ending  March 1st . This  group is only available to those athletes who will be 6 - 8 years old  as of  Dec. 31, 2017 . Registration for this session is available  through our online registration system. The link can be  found on the Club Registration page with more details on their website.

  • Cheer on the TRU Wolfpack at a women's or men's  basketball game
  • Saturday, January 7  Sun Peaks is hosting their 11th Annual Family Cup Alpine Race, starting at 11 am.  
  • See the  Kamloops Storm  junior hockey team at the Memorial arena. 
  • Every Sunday in January -  GKMA Ice Racing at Stake Lake, starting at 9:30am.  (Saturday January 21 GKMA Ice Racing at Logan Lake Campground starting at 9:30 am)
  • Sunday, January 22 is  Annual Family Ice Fishing Day at Walloper Lake
  • Sunday, January 22 attend the  Garden Rail Jam at Sun Peaks
  • Saturday and Sunday January 28-29 check out the Sun Peaks Sunny Side Up Slopestyle
  • Sunday, January 29 see the  Kamloops Long Blade Speed Skating Train 2 Train Western Circuit / Speedtacular / Coyote Cup at the McArthur Island Sports Centre
