Today's e-newsletter includes an update on the IGA Redevelopment and Performing Arts Center Construction, as well as details about our annual leaf collection program!
IGA REDEVELOPMENT UPDATE
Demolition of a few more buildings on the former IGA site will commence the week of October 15! The former K-9 building/old Post Office as well as the former Lawn Impression buildings on the northwest corner of the property will be taken down to make way for the new Performing Arts Center (PAC).
Once those buildings are demolished, the construction on the Performing Arts Center will begin. The construction of that building should take approximately 10-12 months, weather permitting. The final rendering of the building has been approved by City Council and is pictured below.
In addition, the developer is currently designing the first retail building to be constructed on the site. They are also continuing to modify the site plan to include more parking as well as decrease the overall density of the development - in response to resident feedback. Construction of the access into the development and internal roadways will also begin around the same time as the construction of the PAC.
Leaves will be collected from Monday, October 15 through Friday, December 28. L
eaves will be collected from all areas of the City. Crews will collect leaves from each area a minimum of five times after the start of collection. DON'T WORRY - if your leaves are not falling off the trees in early October, crews will be back to get them later in the season!
Do not bag your leaves and leave them out for the City's collection crews. Any bagged leaves will be by-passed. Leaves must be raked out to the tree lawn or curb all by themselves for ease of pick up by the leaf vacuums. Please rake leaves as close to the curb as possible. Bagged leaves will be left for Waste Management to pick up as part of their yard waste collection.
Once the program begins, leaf collection schedule updates will be provided on the City website. To see the collection map and schedule, please click HERE. If you have questions about leaf collection, please call (937) 748-4352 for more information.
