Your monthly news & updates
A message from our Executive Director
Can you believe we are almost in the month of April?  Time must be flying because of all the great things we have planned this year. We are currently gearing up for one of our signature fundraisers, What a Girl Wants on April 27th, an evening of shopping, food, silent auction, raffles and live entertainment.  This event will feature In Her Shoes , a men's march to help put an end to domestic violence.  In Her Shoes will take place about mid way through What a Girl Wants.
I am often asked "What can I do to help?"  The answer is simple, you can attend our events where you are sure to have a fun filled time while giving back to survivors of domestic violence.  All monies raised during our event is put directly back into the programs and services Serene Harbor offers those staying with us and those in our outreach programs. Having fun while giving back!?!?!  That is a win-win.
I look forward to seeing you on April 27th at The Melbourne Auditorium supporting the amazing men in our community, shopping our wonderful vendors, bidding on our silent auction filled with beautiful baskets and merchandise, and enjoying the live entertainment provided by the Brevard County Sheriff's Officers, Firefighters, and Rockwell Executives.

Warmest Regards,
Melody R. Keeth

Recognizing Our Amazing Volunteers

Don and Connie Adams have been providing fresh fruit and vegetables to our shelter for over 12 years from their very own Tower Garden by Juice Plus.    They have also organized the collection of pantry items with the Port Malabar Garden Club and residents of Palm Bay Estates that is delivered weekly to our shelter.  What a wonderful treat for those staying with us to have the freshest produce possible and pantry items to make their stay a bit brighter and healthy!

Don and Connie also support our organization by attending our fundraising events and purchasing vendor booths at our 2 signature fundraisers each year showcasing their passion for Juice Plus+ and promoting a healthy lifestyle.

Thank you for the many years of support Don and Connie.  You are appreciated!
Program Spotlight
Happy Hands Happy Hearts
Happy Hands Happy Hearts is a part of our children's Program here at Serene Harbor. The idea is to give the children an opportunity to have a way to express themselves through Art.  These sessions are individual so the child gets all the attention they desire.  The focus is to let them feel safe to talk and create something of their own that they can take with them.
Topics such as: Self esteem building, safety, life skills and antiviolence are introduced during the activity.   Below are a couple of pieces from the talented and creative children staying with us

Our  pet kennel gets a name!
And the name is.....Shirley's Pet Sanctuary!!  Serene Harbor partnered with The Shirley E. Noland Foundation in 2014.  Debra Verzi, President/Director of The Shirley E. Noland Foundation approached Serene Harbor with the idea and funding to put in our kennel.  This helped bridge the gap in services and take the worry from our clients who did not want to leave their beloved pet behind.
Shirley Noland was a woman that valued hard work, self-discipline, and a genuine desire to better oneself.  It was her wish that her Foundation search for a cure for Pancreatic Cancer; provide a hand - up to those impacted by Domestic Violence; provide protection for abused and neglected children; and care for animals in no - kill environments.
Community partnerships like this are what brings us together and solves issues in our community.
