Archiving Calibration Records
As you calibrate gages year after year, your calibration record count increases and could be slowing down your software. GAGEtrak has an
Archive/Un-archive feature that can move older calibrations from the calibration table to an archive table. To see how many calibration records you have and how old they are, go to
Calibrations, click
Datasheet View in the Ribbon and scroll to the bottom of the page; you can see the calibration count and how old the records are.
Navigate to
Database Utilities -> Archive/Un-archive. There are multiple ways to archive your calibration records:
- Archive a single gage's calibration records by selecting a Gage ID
- Archive records by a date range (enter a From Date and a To Date)
- Archive all calibrations up to a certain date (enter a value only in the To Date field, as shown in the example below)
After entering the appropriate information, click
Archive.
Depending on the number of records being archived, this process may take a few minutes. After completion, you can see how many calibrations were archived by clicking
View Records (and viewing in Datasheet View). You can also view all of your calibration measurements by clicking
View Cal Meas. You can go back to
View Records (in the screen above) or un-archive the records at any time.
Archiving old records helps increase the performance of GAGEtrak and though they're still accessible if you need them, they are not adding clutter to your day-to-day routine. We encourage you to explore the additional capabilities in your GAGEtrak software and as always, keep an eye out for future Tech Tips.
