Stories That Matter

Introducing our new monthly e-newsletter

All of us at Mustard Seed Ministries are deeply grateful for the incredible support shown by the St. Lucie County community in 2025. Because of you, we continued serving neighbors at a time when more families are struggling with food insecurity and rising housing and utility costs.

Every day, we meet people with powerful, compelling stories — neighbors working hard to get back on their feet, families finding stability and hope, and lives changed through your generosity. We want to share those stories with you.

That’s why we’re launching this new monthly digital newsletter. Each month in your email, you’ll receive updates on our programs, real stories from the people you help, and clear examples of how your contributions are being used to make a difference right here in St. Lucie County.

Thank you to our supporters, volunteers, donors and partners for being part of the Mustard Seed family. As we move into 2026, we look forward to staying connected and continuing this important work together.

Here are a few shots of some of the AWESOME volunteers who have joined us recently to help out. They make it possible for us to serve everyone who comes to us. Individuals and groups are welcome to participate in this rewarding work!

Who We Are ...

Steadily serving St. Lucie County since 1986

Mustard Seed Ministries has served St. Lucie County residents in crisis for 40 years through two food pantries, our Sarah’s Kitchen hot meal program at four local churches, and through social services aimed at preventing homelessness and utility shutoffs.

Our mission is to feed people and to address immediate needs so families can stabilize and begin resolving the root causes of their crises. Each year, we serve more than 22,000 people and provide more than 100,000 hot meals.

Partner Spotlight: The Community Foundation

For years, The Community Foundation of Martin–St. Lucie has been a steadfast partner in our mission, helping Mustard Seed Ministries respond quickly and compassionately when neighbors face crisis. Their leadership reflects a clear understanding that food insecurity is often the first and most urgent challenge families encounter when stability is threatened.

Through strategic grantmaking and community leadership, the Foundation helps ensure our doors remain open to anyone in need — strengthening the safety net that protects vulnerable households across our region.

In particular, the Foundation’s Food Insecurity Fund has been a critical resource as demand for assistance continues to rise. This support keeps pantry shelves stocked, meals served and hope alive for thousands of individuals and families who rely on us each week.

Because of donors who invest in this Fund, we are able to meet immediate hunger needs while also helping families regain the stability they need to focus on employment, housing and long-term well-being. Together, we are not just addressing hunger — we are helping build stronger, more secure families throughout St. Lucie County.

On Their Way Up ...

We're teaching people how to take control of their lives

Our newest "Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World" class wrapped up in December, and we couldn’t be more proud! This diverse group of graduates brought powerful stories, big goals and lots of determination to the program.

Over several weeks, they worked with our excellent facilitators to build skills in financial literacy, resource management, relationship-building and goal-setting — all based on the book Getting Ahead in a Just-Gettin’-By World.

Now they’re ready to put those tools to work and take the next steps toward a stronger future. Congratulations to our graduates — we can’t wait to see what’s ahead!
