Happy Monday, Palmetto Bay! Hope your week is off to a great start after such an amazing weekend of sunshine and blue skies.

The Village was buzzing with activity this weekend with neighbors helping good causes and doing good deeds! Eagle Scout projects at Coral Reef Park, Orange Bowl Fast Pitch Invitational at Palmetto Bay Park and all kinds of fun in between- including the 16th Annual Deering Seafood Festival and Christ Fellowship's Big Serve Saturday! Click here if you missed the fun.

Last week we had a presentation from our MDFD Chief Cominsky. The great news? Average response times are well below those of the county. For life threatening emergencies, response time in the village is 6:28 minutes compared to 7:27 countywide. For fires, response time in the Village is an average of 6:48 minutes compared to 7:38 minutes countywide. Check out the full presentation. Click here for the highlights of last week's Council Meeting. There are no formal meetings of the Council this week, but several of our committees and taskforces will continue their work. You can check out the schedule and see how you can participate by clicking here.

Hurricane season is just around the corner, but there is no time like the present to start preparing. You should begin to look at your supplies and make a list what needs replenishing. This is also a good time to learn about your Flood Zone designation. You can read a bit about that here. I will be hosting a Town Hall on April 28th at 7 pm with a panel of experts to discuss insurance issues related to homeowners and flood insurance. You will receive more information about that next week but in the meantime, Save the Date.

Looking forward to seeing you at one of our many Earth Month events. As always, I encourage you to stay tuned into reliable information sources. You can subscribe to the Village Newsletter by clicking here and of course, I am here to answer questions or lend a helping hand. I have enjoyed joining small groups for After Hours with Karyn in your driveway or homes. If you are interested in scheduling a time for me to meet with you and your neighbors, I can also be reached at kcunningham@palmettobay-fl.gov or at 305-799-0695.  I look forward to seeing you in and around the Village. Together we are making Palmetto Bay a better place to live, work, learn, and play.

Warm regards,
