Community Baby Showers held in Cambria and Somerset counties

Center for Population Health (CPH) and the United Way of the Southern Alleghenies teamed up to host two community baby showers in June - one at the Greater Johnstown Community YMCA and one at St. Paul's Presbyterian Church in Somerset.

The events were a way for pregnant people or those parenting babies up to 9-months-old to be connected to resources they may be eligible to receive.

Both events were a huge success.

CPH tables at Families R Us Community Event

On June 28, CPH Communications Coordinator Allie Byers tabled at the Families R Us community event in Moxham.

The day gave families the opportunity to be connected to resources, learn more about health, and enjoy a variety of different activities.

The next community events are scheduled for:

-July 12 at Johnstown Housing Authority's Prospect Community (12 - 4 p.m.)

-July 26 at Johnstown Housing Authority's Oakhurst Community (12 - 4 p.m.)

-August 9 at Johnstown Housing Authority's Solomon Community (12 - 4 p.m.)

-August 16 at Back to School Bash at Greater Johnstown High School (10 a.m. - 5 p.m.)

Free Mental Health Resiliency Training being offered at Outdoor Odyssey

One day Mental Health Resiliency trainings for first responders, health and human services personnel, educators, and any front-line workers who wish to deepen their understanding of mental fitness, further develop resiliency skills, and share these lessons with their families, teams, and communities are being offered at Outdoor Odyssey.

The upcoming dates are August 27, September 18, and October 21. You can choose one date to attend.

RSVPs are due by July 15.

July Lunch & Learn session on outdoor recreation

On June 12 and July 10 at noon, the monthly Lunch & Learn topics will be outdoor recreation opportunities in Cambria and Somerset counties.

The Lunch & Learn sessions are a collaboration between CPH, Cambria Regional Chamber of Commerce, and Somerset County Chamber of Commerce.

Westmont football players volunteer at community garden

At the beginning of June Westmont Hilltop football players volunteered at The Women's Help Center's community garden.

The players did a great job of preparing the garden beds for a prosperous growing season.

Johnstown Mill Rats Health & Human Services Fair scheduled for July 19

The Center for Population Health is sponsoring a Health & Human Services Fair at the July 19 Johnstown Mill Rats game.

If you'd like your organization to table at the event, please contact CPH Communications Coordinator Allie Byers at abyers@centerforpophealth.org.

The game begins at 7 p.m. with the gates opening at 6 p.m.

Tickets for the game can be purchased online by visiting Mill Rats Events or at the main gate before the game.
