Annual Fund Update

We are so grateful to all who have already made a gift or pledge to the STM annual fund. This year’s campaign is off to a great start. THANK YOU!

We are excited to share renderings of the renovated gym at the following link, NEW STM GYM. These images provide a vision for the impact of your gifts to this year’s annual fund.

Karen and Henri Saunders are serving as the chair couple for this year’s annual fund campaign, and we invite you to view a short video message from the Saunders about why they support STM at the following link, SAUNDERS VIDEO MESSAGE.

Gifts and pledges can be made at the following link on the school website, RENOVATE THE GYM

We are certainly aware that COVID-19 has affected some of our families financially. If you are in this position, we pray for your quick return to good financial health.

We ask each family to make a gift that is within its means believing that with such an approach, we will achieve our objectives. No gift is too large or too small.

We'll keep you posted on our progress. Thanks again for your consideration of participation in the 2020 STM Annual Fund!

Please contact Dr. Greg Brandao, Director of Advancement and Mission Integration, via email at brandaog@stmbr.org if you have any questions. God bless, and thank you for your support of St. Thomas More Catholic School!

Uniform Reminders

As we enter a season of cooler weather, please be reminded that all outerwear must be official STM gear. All sweatshirts should be either the new "One STM" navy sweatshirt or the former "belltower logo" sweatshirt. All jackets, fleece, and sweaters should be STM logo items from our uniform vendors. No other outerwear is permitted. STM uniform outerwear is available at Inka's, School Time, and Young Fashions. We encourage everyone to put your child's name inside outerwear items. Thank you for your partnership!

A Word from Nurse Rochelle

THANK YOU for all of the uniforms and hangers! We do not need any more hangers at this time. The only uniforms we are still taking are the following: belts (all sizes) any NEW LOGO uniform & spirit shirts, boys uniform shirts in all adult sizes, and girls undershorts in adult sizes.

Reminder: updated immunization records are due this week. Some of you received letters in early October to request records, including immunization records. Students without an updated shot record on file can be excluded from school, so please submit these on time. A report must be submitted online to the state by November 1st, so our records must be complete by the end of this week in order to allow for that report to be complete in time.

Our illness prevention/ mitigation measures have been very successful at school so far this year. Thank you for your continued support during these challenging times! October is a good time to get vaccinated for the flu. Please consider getting your flu vaccine this year!

Symptoms of Covid-19, flu, and colds overlap. Here is a handy chart to help:

Elementary and Middle Schools Suspend Athletic Competition for the Fall Semester

From the August 21, 2020 Diocese of Baton Rouge Catholic Schools Press Release

Catholic elementary and middle schools in the Diocese of Baton Rouge reopened in August with appropriate procedures in place to mitigate the chance of COVID-19 transmission on campus.

The health and safety of students and staff were of primary importance in the decision to reopen school buildings in service to students and families. With that focus, it has been determined that extra-curricular athletics will not be held during the first semester of this school year. With time, it is hoped that it will be possible to consider resuming sports programs in elementary and middle schools during the spring semester.

These are extraordinary times that have caused us to take this extraordinary action.  School leaders are grateful for the support and cooperation of all stakeholders as decisions are made to ensure safety of all. We share the disappointment of our students, their families, our faculties and staffs, and the communities in which our athletic teams have participated for decades.

We all pray for a safe environment in the spring that will permit a return to spirited sports competition.
