Two Questions for the congregation from DS Rev. Garth Gilliam:

What qualities are you looking for or do you value in a Pastor?

How is our church and congregation resilient?

There will be a moderated Q&A with the D.S., time permitting. For the sake of time, priority will be given to select submitted questions. What question would you like to ask Pastor Garth?

Email your questions to pattyfumc@gmail.com by tomorrow, 10/4. Thank you.

We have a fun Mission Service Sunday planned and we hope you will join us!

First, we will build sandwiches and then assemble 120 sack lunches together!

Lunches will be delivered by frontline volunteers on the same day! If you'd like to caravan to Van Nuys Home Depot, let Jon or Patty know.

Second, we will assemble goodie bags that will be gifted to the children at Casa de Vida and the young people at The Landing in Chatsworth.

5:30 Arrive at Casa de Vida for Pumpkin decorating, treats, and dinner.

If you'd like to join, let Jon or Patty know.

On the third Sunday of October (10/20), United Methodist Churches celebrate Laity! NOHO First UMC will have a joyful worship, led by our lay people, followed by a wonderful celebration in the courtyard. You won't want to miss it!

You're invited for a night of fun, fellowship, and lots of laughs! Bring a snack to share and a game or two.

Church Community

Plese lift up The Griffin Family in your prayers. It is with heavy hearts that we share the death of Sean Griffin. Sean's mom, Regina, first came to NOHO when Indra and Sean were toddlers, when Pastor Joey was appointed. They are grateful to call NOHO First UMC their HOME CHURCH.

Sean's celebration of life will be announced soon. The family started a GoFundMe and you may support his memorial if you feel moved.

The haven't determined the cause of the cardiac arrest, the damage to his heart, or how extensive the brain damage may be.

  • Sherri Perry's 98 year old grandmother, Florine Humphrey, was in the hospital and it seemed was not going to wake up. But she did wake up on Sunday, and Sherri's aunt brought her home late Monday night. She currently has pneumonia, with a lot of congestion, she doesn't want to eat or drink, so my aunt is frustrated with because my grandmother fights her on it. Please send prayer to my aunt Audria, to keep her spirits up and body and mind healthy during this time (She is my grandmother's primary caretaker) and for my grandmother to give her the will to eat and drink. My cousin who lives close is going to start helping her more. We all are leaving this in God's hands.

More than that, pray that God’s peace will, throughout the land and in the hearts of all those who are initiating this conflict.”
