Good Afternoon St.Gabriel Families,

Spring is on its way. We just need to get through a few more weeks of colder weather. Hang in there everyone!! There is a lot happening around the school these days. Please read the following headlines and check out the links to stay up to date on all that is happening at St. Gabriel Parish School.

Lent:

We are continuing to collect items for the Milwaukee Rescue Mission during Lent. The Milwaukee Rescue Mission serves the homeless and poverty-stricken community in Milwaukee. They are currently in urgent need of several items. For a list of these items, or any information concerning donations, please contact the school office (262-628-1711) or CLICK HERE.

2022-2023 School Calendar:

Please click the link below for the 2022-2023 school calendar.

** Please note: Next year’s school calendar incorporates enough instructional time to offset one snow day. If there is a need for a second snow day, May 26th will need to be changed to an instructional day instead of an in-service day.

Bright Arrow Communication System:

We have purchased and installed a mass communication system that will allow us to text, email, and call groups in a more efficient manner.  We will be using this system when we need to send out messages to all families, particular grade level families, teachers/staff, etc.  This system will be particularly helpful in emergency situations and when school is canceled due to weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

We will be sending out a “test” message tomorrow to make sure that we are reaching everyone.  This message will be sent via email, phone, and text message.  We want to send it in all three formats to make sure that the system is working properly.  When you receive the text, you will need to “opt-in” by responding YES.  Once that is done, you will continue to receive the texts without needing to opt-in again.

The system is set to use the contact information that is already in our system.  If you do not receive the test message tomorrow, or you would like to add a number or email to the message system, please contact the office and let Cindy know.

Iowa Test Results:

Iowa test results will be sent home today with our 3rd, 5th, and 7th graders today. We are very proud of our students. The group profile reports show the overall results for each grade level. The NPR (National Percentile Ranking) shows us what percentage of students nationwide that we scored higher than in that particular grade level. For example, scoring a 74% in reading, as seen on the third-grade results, means that our students scored higher than 74% of the third graders nationwide.

Night at the Museum:

You are cordially invited to the Parish Hall on Tuesday, April 5th between 8:50 AM -10:25 AM for our 7th grader’s museum-style presentation on the Industrial Revolution.

Many inventors will be there to share information about their work. You will learn about the camera, the moving assembly line, the light bulb, and the telephone. You will also learn about a few inventions that may be considered less "industrial" such as Crayola crayons, the ice cream cone, the teddy bear, Cracker Jacks, and more.

There will be 14 inventors in all and the students would love it if you would stop in for a few minutes and check it out!

Registration for 2022-2023 School Year:

Take advantage of our Early Bird Discount (ends today, March 31) of $250 per child ($1,000 family maximum). Click here to register:  Current Family Registration

And did you know about St. Gabriel's New Family Referral Program? Help us spread the word about our school!! If you aren't aware, new families may indicate on their student's application that a current family has referred them to St. Gabriel. The current family will receive a $500 one-time tuition credit for that referral after the new family enrolls their student(s) AND the new student(s) begin the school year.

More information is available on the Admissions page of the school website. If you have any questions about either the registration process or referral program, please contact Celia Meyers at [email protected].

Dress Code Transition:

Just a reminder, St. Gabriel Parish School will begin to implement the Mass Day Dress Code five days a week, as of the 2022-2023 school year. While it is not required to follow the Mass Day dress code on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, we would like to give families this opportunity to ease their students into this new routine. Please take advantage of this transition time if you are ready to do so. Please refer to the dress code link for more detailed information regarding the dress code for the next school year.

This past Sunday, March 27th, Cub Scout Pack 139 held their annual Pinewood Derby.  We had a fantastic turnout, and I would like to extend my personal thanks to all who participated with the setup, running of the races, and tear down of the event.

The Scouts were enthusiastic and showed great sportsmanship cheering all of the racers throughout the event.

This upcoming Sunday, April 3rd, Pack 139 and Troop 139 will be having our Scout Mass, at the 10:30 AM service.

All current and past Scouts are encouraged to attend.  Scouts do not have to be a member of Pack/Troop 139 to attend in uniform, as I know we have members from other Packs/Troops that attend our Parish.
