Good Afternoon St.Gabriel Families,

This is a very busy and exciting time of year!  We are in the midst of the season of Lent, we are working hard to finish our last trimester of this school year, and we are beginning to make preparations for the following school year.  Please read the following updates carefully so that you are up to date on all of the latest news.

Curriculum Updates:

Thanks to all of your hard work and many generous donations, we were able to update our curriculum for the 2022-2023 school year. The new curriculum includes:

  • ELA Grades K4-5
  • Math Grades K-8 plus Algebra
  • Social Studies Grades K-5
  • Science Grades 1-5

In addition, thanks to fundraising dollars from the Read-a-Thon last year and this year, we were able to purchase a subscription to IXL for grades 1-8 for next year. This digital resource will allow us to offer more personalized instruction for our students in both ELA and Math.

Staffing Update:

Mrs. Szpara shared with us her plan not to return to St. Gabriel next year. We thank her for her commitment to our students and our school these past two years and wish her the very best in her future endeavors.

We congratulate Mrs. Holder and her husband who welcomed their son, Julian Bennett Holder, into the world during the early morning hours of March 5th. Despite his very sudden and early arrival, Julian is doing well. Mrs. Holder will be out caring for her new family until further notice. We are currently looking for a long-term substitute to fill her position until she is ready to return. We continue to send prayers her way for strength and healing as well as heartfelt congratulations on the birth of their son. We cannot wait to meet him!

Iowa Testing:

Grades 3,5, and 7 are just finishing up their Iowa tests. The tests will be gathered and sent in next week. We will send home the results as soon as we get them. They typically come back to us in May.

Registration for 2022-2023 School Year:

We emailed Tuition Statements on Thursday, March 3, with the reminder to be sure to register for the 2022-23 school year and take advantage of our Early Bird Discount of $250 per child ($1,000 family maximum). Click here to register:  Current Family Registration

And did you know about St. Gabriel's New Family Referral Program? Help us spread the word about our school!! If you aren't aware, new families may indicate on their student's application that a current family has referred them to St. Gabriel. The current family will receive a $500 one-time tuition credit for that referral after the new family enrolls their student(s) AND the new student(s) begin the school year.

More information is available on the Admissions page of the school website. If you have any questions about either the registration process or referral program, please contact Celia Meyers at cmeyers@stgabrielhubertus.org.

2022-2023 School Calendar:

Please click the link below for the 2022-2023 school calendar.

** Please note: Next year’s school calendar incorporates enough instructional time to offset one snow day. If there is a need for a second snow day, May 26th will need to be changed to an instructional day instead of an in-service day.

Dress Code Transition:

Just a reminder, St. Gabriel Parish School will begin to implement the Mass Day Dress Code five days a week, as of the 2022-2023 school year. While it is not required to follow the Mass Day dress code on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, we would like to give families this opportunity to ease their students into this new routine. Please take advantage of this transition time if you are ready to do so. Please refer to the dress code link for more detailed information regarding the dress code for the next school year.

St. Gabriel's Parish Pack/Troop 139 Scouting for Food drive to benefit St. Boniface Food Pantry 2022.

This year's Scouting for Food drive was another fantastic event.  Even with the driving rain the first weekend, and the frigid cold temperatures on our collection day, we still collected 880 items of non-perishable food items. The Troop earned valuable service hours, while the pack continued to work together to make it happen. A hearty thank you to all the parents who helped brave the weather to make this event a complete success.
