St. Gabriel Gazette

From the desk of Mrs. Lestina

Good Afternoon St.Gabriel Families,

Please read the information below for all of the latest news at St. Gabriel Parish School.

Grandparent’s Day:

Grandparents Day is tomorrow! If you haven't done so, please RSVP HERE.

COVID:

This past week we experienced a handful of students who tested positive for COVID. We had seven cases reported across three different grade levels within a period of a week. We were able to get messages out quickly so students were able to quarantine if necessary. Our fabulous teachers, once again, opened virtual links for instruction when needed and we were able to continue instruction for those who were quarantined at home. Thank you for your continued support during this time.

I am happy to say that things have calmed down and most of our students are back in class. WHEW!! Please continue to watch for symptoms and report any positive cases as soon as possible. Thank you for your continued support during this time.

2022-2023 School Year Updates:

We are very excited to share that we have interviewed several qualified candidates for the two openings we have on our elementary teaching team. We are in the process of calling references for our finalists and should have the positions filled within the next couple of weeks.

We would also like to share a couple of grade changes with our teaching staff for next year. Mr. Thuecks, while he has thoroughly enjoyed his time in second grade, has decided to teach our fifth-grade students next year. His strong classroom management and organizational skills will be an asset to our fifth-grade classroom. In addition, Miss Davit has decided to return to second grade, a position she held earlier in her career at another school. We thank them both for their dedication to their profession and to our students. They will both do an excellent job in their new roles.

We are also excited to announce that we have been working hard on developing an RTI (Response to Intervention) program for St. Gabriel School. We have a team of teachers that have been meeting every Friday morning this school year to put this program together.

The purpose of this program is to identify students who are in need of extra support (above and beyond what is already provided in the classroom) in order to thrive in school. Thank you to Mr. Thuecks, Mrs. Erdmann, Mrs. Merkel, and Miss Davit for all of their hard work!  Mr. Thuecks will be organizing and leading this program.

We have also hired Mrs. Sarah Kohls as our part-time RTI teacher to work with the students who qualify for this program. Our goal is to meet each student where they are academically and help them grow as much as possible. This program will help us do just that.

$crip Certificates:

$crip certificates are the perfect gift ideas for First Communion, Graduations, Confirmations, and all the special celebrations coming up like the auction too. Planning to have pizza for supper? We have Pizza Hut, Papa John’s, and Papa Murphy gift cards in stock. Doing some yard work? Stock up on Fleet Farm, Home Depot, and Menards.

Visit the Raise Right (formally Shop with Scrip) site for a complete list or contact the School Office for an order form. $crip is available in the School Office Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 2:30 p.m., after the weekend Masses, or online. If interested in learning more about buying certificates online via the Raise Right website, please contact Laura Rogacki in the Parish Office (262-628-1141).

Our School families have received their last Scrip credits for the 2021-22 school year as of April 30. Please see that your 2021-22 tuition and your 2022-23 registration fee of $200, per family, are paid in full by the end of May 2022. 2021-22 Tuition statements will be emailed this week. (Note: 2022-23 tuition statements will be processed in July.) Please contact Laura Rogacki in the Parish Office with any questions.

2022-2023 School Calendar:

Please click the link below for the 2022-2023 school calendar.

** Please note: Next year’s school calendar incorporates enough instructional time to offset one snow day. If there is a need for a second snow day, May 26th will need to be changed to an instructional day instead of an in-service day.
