From the desk of Mrs. Lestina

Good Afternoon St. Gabriel Families,

It is nice to see some of our students returning from quarantine. We can’t wait until everyone is back and the classrooms and hallways are filled with learning and laughter. This is a short week and I know many of you are preparing for Thanksgiving. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Blessed and safe Thanksgiving holiday!! I look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Monday, November 29th.

Report Cards:

The end of the trimester was Friday, November 19th. Report cards have been finalized and were sent home Tuesday afternoon. If your child was not in school Tuesday, their report card can be picked up in the office on any day that school is in session. Please look over the report card with your child(ren), sign the envelope, and return it to your child’s classroom teacher.

COVID Update:

With the holidays and family gatherings approaching, please continue to be diligent about monitoring your children for COVID symptoms. If your child has been exposed to someone who has tested positive, or is experiencing symptoms, they will need to learn virtually while they are quarantined. Our teachers are ready to make that happen. Please notify the office if arrangements for virtual learning are necessary due to exposure. We will help determine when it is safe for them to return to school using the guidelines provided to us by the Wisconsin Health Department. Please see our updated COVID protocol for more details. We are doing our best to keep everyone safe but we cannot do it alone. This is a group effort!!

COVID Plan Modification beginning January 3:

Given the recent availability of vaccines for children ages 5-12, we are updating our COVID protocolThis time frame provides families choosing to vaccinate their child(ren) sufficient time to do so. Beginning January 3rd (after Christmas break) we will be following the guidelines below:

Please Note: Our quarantine guidelines for those who test positive will NOT change. A 10-day quarantine, as stated in our current protocol, will still be required.

Update: If a student has been in close contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, they will no longer be required to quarantine. Instead, students will be required to:

  • Wear a mask in indoor spaces for 14 days after exposure. This time may be reduced if they receive a negative test result after day 6 of exposure.
  • Monitor for symptoms for 14 days after their last close contact.
  • Isolate at home and contact the school if your child develops symptoms or tests positive during this time.

Classroom families will be notified if a positive case has been reported so that you may plan accordingly. If you choose to quarantine your child after a close contact, virtual learning will be provided.

Our main priority is to maintain in-person learning for our students and limit the risk of an outbreak within our school. This plan may be revised if the circumstances or conditions change. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation during this time. It is our hope that this protocol will no longer be necessary sometime in the near future.

Order early for $CRIP:

If anyone would like to place a $crip order for Christmas gifts, please plan ahead. Scrip orders will be placed on November 29, December 6, and December 13. Some of the cards might be out of stock or on backorder and we cannot guarantee that we will have them before the holidays. You may buy or place an order in the school office during regular school hours, after any of the weekend Masses, or online NOTE: We will not sell $crip from December 23- 31. $crip sales resume on Jan. 1-2 after Masses, and at the school office on Jan 3. Contact Laura Rogacki, Senior Accountant, ([email protected]) for more information or to set up your online account. Remember, every time you purchase $crip, you reduce your tuition!

St. Gabriel 2022 Auction:

Volunteers are needed to chair the next Parish and School Auction. YOU would not be alone!!! The auction has a dedicated and experienced team of committee chairs to support you. Last year we added auction staff, Dawn Jorgensen, to handle much of the administration work.

Dawn has experience chairing the auction and she is a great support to guide and assist you through the entire process! We need your good ideas, enthusiasm, leadership, and your time. This is a great community event with awesome people to meet and work with! Team up with a friend and join us!

Please prayerfully consider leading this important fundraising event! Contact Dawn if you would like to get involved.
