Pastor's Update

Hi Parkway!

I missed y'all this past Sunday!

We took a weekend to run down to the beach with old friends that we don't get to see nearly enough. As much as missing a Sunday still feels like wearing my shoes on the wrong feet, I am so thankful for our great staff and volunteers that keep things running well and make getting out of town possible!

As families settle into new school-year rhythms and routines things can feel a little quiet around here. But we are using these first few weeks of the school year to do some behind-the-scenes work and get ready for great things that are coming up soon. So, as we walk through the mini-seasons we all know and love over the next few weeks: summer, more summer, fake fall, summer strikes back, fake fall 2... check out some of what's going on at Parkway.

This Sunday, August 27th

This Sunday we will step into another week of our current series: Look Both Ways. We'll continue to bring together traditional and modern worship and look to the road ahead while remembering where we came from.

This week we will continue to do things a little differently -- the biggest change being, we will take Communion towards the front of the service. It will be a chance to let sharing in Communion together prepare us for worship rather than to go out into the world. Moving Communion forwards also makes room to celebrate the baptism of Kyah Britton towards the end of the 10.30am service. Be sure to come share in and celebrate baptism with Kat, Andrew, Kyah, and their family.

Pizza with the Pastors

One last note about this Sunday -- it's not too late to sign up for Pizza with the Pastors after the 10.30am service. This is a time for anyone new or interested in learning more about Parkway to have lunch with me, to ask questions, and get to know Parkway. Click HERE to sign up for Pizza with the Pastors today!

Parkway Board Meeting on Monday 8/28

This coming Monday, August 28th at 7pm the Parkway Board will meet in the Ministry Center in room 126/128. Board meetings are always open to anyone.

MidWeek Kickoff on Wednesday 9/6

MidWeek Ministries are back on Wednesday, September 6th! Starting at 6pm food will be available, so that anyone needing dinner can make a sandwich or salad. Classes for all ages - children, students, and adults, run from 6.30 - 7.30pm. Stay tuned -- next week I'll send out a preview of MidWeek with more details about classes and schedules!

3rd Grade Bibles on Sunday 9/10

On Sunday, September 9th, we will present our 3rd grade students with their own Bible. If you have a 3rd grade student and want to make sure we have a Bible for them, please contact Becky Betz, Director of Children's Ministries at rbetz@parkwayumc.org

Children and Student Ministries Listening Session on Sunday 10/15

It's a little down the road, but mark your calendars now. On Sunday, October 15th after the 10.30am service, we will hold a listening session for anyone whose kids are involved in either Children's or Student Ministries. This is a chance to hear from parents about Parkway's children's and student ministries with feedback, ideas, and dreams for the future.

Stay tuned as we move into Fall so you don't miss all that's going on at Parkway!
