St. Gabriel Gazette

Hello St. Gabriel Families!

Check out the following headlines and links to stay up to date on everything that is happening at St. Gabriel Parish School.

Our St. Gabriel Catholic School Walk is happening this Saturday after the 4:30 Mass. The starting line will be in the Parish Hall. Our Glow Walk will be approximately 1 mile long. Since we are unsure what condition the ground will be in, we will be staying on the paved areas. Along the way, walkers will be picking up exciting GLOW ITEMS. Afterward, everyone can join us for food and fellowship in the Parish Hall. Let's GLOW IT UP!

So far we have raised an amazing $12,314. We have surpassed our goal of $10,000 and are so incredibly grateful. Let’s keep it going! You can still help us raise money for our school even if you cannot participate in the Glow Walk.

Please visit our St. Gabriel Team Page to register and start collecting donations.  Although the website will be open through the end of the year, only donations received before November 18th will be proportionally matched. Share your fundraising page with your friends and family via email and social media. Help us spread the word.

As a THANK YOU for helping us work toward our goal, we have a couple of exciting incentives to announce for our St. Gabriel School Families.

1.   Register your family on our Team Page and collect your first donation to have your SHOE added to our WALL OF FAME at school! So far we have 75 shoes on our wall. Let’s keep going and fill that wall!

2.   For every $100 in donations collected by a family, they will be entered into a raffle for a $500 tuition credit. For example, if your family collects $500 in donations, you will receive 5 raffle entries. So far we have 98 tickets in the raffle. One lucky winner will be drawn after November 18th so start collecting!

3.   The top 10 families that collect the most donations by November 18th will enjoy a PIZZA PARTY with Father Tim and Mrs. Lestina (date and time to be determined).

4.   As an extra challenge this year, any family that raises $250 or more will get an opportunity to participate in an IMPOSSIBLE SHOT contest created by our very own Mrs. Schulteis. This event will be held during a special pep rally on Friday, October 21st in front of the entire school. All students in a qualifying family will get a chance and if a student makes the IMPOSSIBLE SHOT, they will win an “OUT OF UNIFORM” day for their family! Please join us if you can!!

Channel 12 “Shout-Outs”:

Two weeks ago Channel 12 (WISN) came to our school and filmed six of our classes. Below is one of the recorded shout-outs of our 6th-grade class. Check it out!

Halloween Fun:

On Friday, October 28th our K4-5th grade students will be participating in a school Halloween parade. This parade will be held in the gym. Students in K4 and K5 may wear their costumes to school. Students in grades 1-5 will change into their costumes before the parade.

The following are guidelines for costumes in school.

  • No Face Paint
  • Masks will be put on before the parade. They should not be worn during the school day.
  • Inappropriate/scary costumes will not be permitted (no blood, weapons, or adult-themed costumes).

Parents if you would like to join in the fun and watch the parade, please be in the gym by 2:30 PM that afternoon. The teachers and students would love to see you there!!

In addition to watching the parade, our middle school students will be participating in a holiday-themed activity organized by our middle school teachers that afternoon.

We hope to see you all at Trunk or Treat on Friday, October 28. Set-up begins at 5:30. The event starts at 6:00 PM and ends at 7:00 PM. We hope that everyone enjoys the holiday fun.

Happy Halloween

Congratulations!

Our 5th-grade boys’ team took first place in the St. John Vianney volleyball tournament last week. They came out slow in the first match, losing the first game to a tough St. Sebastian’s team but won the next 2 games to advance to the championship.

In the championship, the boys faced Holy Family- who had not lost a match all season! St. Gabriel won the first game, lost the second, and pulled out a come-from-behind victory in the 3rd game to bring home the trophy! Most impressive was how the boys stuck together and supported each other even through the losses. They represented St. Gabriel extremely well.

We are so very proud of them!

5th Grade Native American Exhibit:

Our fifth-grade class shared their Native American dioramas with everyone Tuesday afternoon. Their hard work really paid off. Their projects were amazing and the information they shared was impressive! Thank you for sharing with us.

The Scholastic Book Fair:

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way! It will take place Tuesday, October 25 through Friday, October 28. As you know choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become bolder, prouder, and stronger readers, AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

This fall we are once again offering eWallet as an option—your child’s digital payment account. Before the Fair, you can set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute!

We also would welcome having a few volunteers during the lunch hours and parent/teacher conferences. You can sign up to help by visiting our Sign-Up Genius page

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more about the fair and get started with eWallet and online shopping:  You many also find the link on the website.
