March is an exciting time for FCPL!

Our 2019 Celtic Concert featuring The Screaming Orphans is on Wednesday, March 20, at 7 p.m. at the Marion Burk Knott Auditorium at Mount St. Mary's University. Free tickets will be available at the Emmitsburg and Thurmont libraries beginning this Saturday, March 2, at 10 a.m.

This month we're also excited to celebrate Brain Awareness Week in partnership with Frederick County Public Schools (FCPS). Check out the article below or visit fcpl.org/brain for more information on how you can explore the brain with us from March 11 - 17.

Our partnership with the Frederick Speaker Series continues next month as Laverne Cox and LeVar Burton visit the Weinberg Center on April 3 and April 25. VIP Meet & Greet tickets are available and it's a wonderful way to support the library. All proceeds benefit children's programming at FCPL.

We also continue to make great progress in building our Myersville Library. For construction updates and the latest pictures, be sure to follow us on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

See you around the library!

Brain Awareness Week

This March, Frederick County Public Libraries will partner with Frederick County Public Schools to celebrate Brain Awareness Week, a worldwide celebration of the brain for people of all ages. Build your brain, learn how it works, and more between March 11 and March 17.

Stop by your local library and check out a book about the brain, or visit fcpl.org/learn for online encyclopedias with lots of brain facts. Too brainy? Try a puzzle, or work that brain muscle by learning something new about any topic! FCPS students will learn about their brains in school. If you have a student at home, ask them to share what they learned to reinforce concepts and give your brain a boost, too!

Visit fcpl.org/brain for a complete list of events and programs happening at your local library!
Frederick Speakers Series exclusive meet and greet opportunities. All proceeds benefit FCPL_s Children_s Department.
National Library Week

Celebrate National Library Week at your local FCPL branch from April 7 - 13. National Library Week is a national observance sponsored by the American Library Association (ALA). This year's theme is Libraries = Strong Communities.

Celebrate everything you love about your library including access to books, music, movies, and education programs for children, teens, and adults at no cost. Each and every library is a unique destination where community members can gather and learn from one another. When you stop by your local library this spring, remember to show your appreciation to library staff for all of their contributions.
Be a Part of History

You can etch your name into Frederick County history with a donation to the library. Gifts of $100, or more, designated for the new Myersville Library will be a part of history and the library itself with a personalized dedication brick included in the beautiful outdoor plaza.

Personalized bricks make lasting gifts and are a great way to commemorate a special occasion, favorite book, family member, or neighbor. They are also a great way to remember a loved one. Want to donate a brick in someone else's name? No problem! Just select "donate as a gift" on the order form at fcpl.org/mybrick.

Quantities are limited!

Donors will be recognized at the opening of the library, in the annual report, and permanently in the plaza. Your gift is tax-deductible and you will receive a letter detailing your donation for your records.

Our donors help build amazing libraries, brick by brick, and each time someone visits the library they will recognize your important role in building a legacy for Frederick County.

For more information about this exclusive opportunity contact FCPL's Development Officer or visit fcpl.org/mybrick to reserve your space today.
