The United States was the first country in the world to require a census be performed as a mandatory part of its Constitution. Article 1, Section 2 of the US Constitution mandates that a census must be done every ten years and that representatives of Congress and direct taxes "shall be apportioned among the several states which may be included within this union, according to their respective numbers."

Visit the Florence Census  website  for ways YOU can make a difference!

Did Lizzie Borden really kill her parents with an ax on a hot day in August 1982? Who else could have done it?

Come to The Z (416 N. Court St., Florence) in October to see them bring the Lizzie Borden story to life! Wayne Miller (author of last season's The Belles of Whitechapel) gives us an opportunity to look at each of the theories behind the Borden murders as they are played out over and over again. Rated PG-13 for adult subject matter.

Performances are October 17-19 at 7:30 pm & October 20 at 2 pm. Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for students

HAUNTED HISTORY OF UNA GHOST WALK TOUR
Thursday, October 17

Don't miss this special FUNdraiser for our beloved live lion mascots, Leo III and Una! Explore our scenic and "haunted" campus on a tour unlike any you've been on before. Our tour will begin at 7:30 p.m. at the Harrison Fountain. Your guide, Debra Glass, a University of North Alabama alumna, will take you on a spine-chilling journey through the shadowed walkways and courtyards of UNA's most historic and haunted halls!

For more information and to purchase tickets please visit our  website  for this event.

Note: All funds for the care and feeding of Leo III and Una come from personal donations and sponsorships. No state or university money can be used for the care and feeding of the lions, so your support is extremely important. Half the proceeds from ticket sales from this FUNdraiser will go toward the care and feeding of Leo III and Una.

COOKIES, CAKES & CRAFTS SALE
Benefiting Chloe's Fund
Volunteers for Chloe's Fund have been very busy creating handmade crafts for the October 18 Cookies, Cakes & Crafts Sale ! In addition to all the sweet treats people love to buy at our various sales, most of the crafts are one of a kind items. Due to the large amount of veterinary visits and surgeries, Chloe's Fund is very low and could use your help. All proceeds from the sales of baked goods and crafts benefit Chloe's Fund in helping with medical expenses for local animals.

Everything will be available from 8am-2pm on Friday, October 18 at the Florence-Lauderdale Government Building, located at 102 S. Court Street (the building with time and temperature on top) in downtown Florence.

With your help, Chloe's Fund can continue to save the lives of hundreds of animals!
