  RELIGIOUS EDUCATION

JOE AND THE PRESCHOOLERS
Question? Do you know everything there is to know about your hands, feet, bending and stretching and singing songs with a ukulele?  That’s what our preschoolers are doing.  They are also learning about sharing, cooperation and listening and the UU chalice words.  They play with trucks, and cars and trains and blocks. Maybe they even play pretend house, or color or paint or make play dough.  Wish you could do those things just one more time?  Joe Reichlin would be please to have you join him for an hour of Religious Education time with our preschoolers; the class is going strong with Joe and parents as leaders, BUT YOU COULD HELP TOO!  JUST SIGN UP ON THE SHEET ON THE DOOR OF ROOM #4 OR CONTACT CINDY WAKELAND at [email protected]

TRUNK OR TREAT
TRUNK OR TREAT IS OCTOBER 30TH 12:00 -2:00 P.M RIGHT HERE AT OUR CHURCH. Don’t worry you have not missed it.  There is plenty of time to still join the fun!  Check out the Religious Education Bulletin Board in the Fellowship hall and mark a pumpkin that you are planning to attend. OR in the Sunday Order of Service there will be an orange pumpkin for you to mark indicating that you are coming and if would like to host a trunk or table giveaway or game.  Maybe you would just like to meet and greet the children in your favorite Halloween costumes.  It is going to be a party and everyone is invited.  Please let the Religious Education Committee know if plan to be there or can help.  Thank you so much.

RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FACTS TO KNOW AND TELL
We have 97 children and youth signed up on registration rolls.  During the first four weeks of the new RE year we have had an average of 63 children and youth attend, and 21 teachers each Sunday. (82 children the first Day)

The Religious Education Committee provides family friendly information packets to our new families.  Check them out at the Welcome Table.

Books are available for check out at the Religious Education Table in fellowship hall about peace and justice. Information about books and tips to talk to your children and youth about racial justice issues are also available.  Here is one site that lists books for all ages CLICK HERE

The Religious Education Committee is preparing to adapt their mission statement and begin looking a curriculum for the coming year.  What changes should we make?  You can join us if you want.  Contact Cindy Wakeland. [email protected].

Call for
SHARED OFFERING NOMINATIONS
Do you know of a nonprofit organization (local, state, national, or international) that deserves a financial contribution from the church?

The Social Action Committee (SAC) is now soliciting nominations for the SHARED OFFERING recipients for 2017 to be chosen by our church community.

The chosen organizations will receive half of the cash collection from each Sunday service for one month, as well as any designated checks.

Please submit your nomination through the survey available on the Social Action table in Fellowship Hall or through the survey available through this link: http://conta.cc/2cZuiO6 .
Deadline for submitting is Nov 6.

Thank you for taking the time to nominate a worthy recipient organization!
OCTOBER IS KEY CLEAN-UP MONTH
It is time for me to reconcile the key faubs, outer office door, and inner office door keys.
Please click here to respond to Linda by October 31st. Reply with your name and which key(s) you have. The key faub number is on the back. All key faubs that a response is not received for will be deactivated on November 1st. If you are not on this list you should return your key.
CHURCH ACCESSIBLITY
Are you concerned about our church being fully accessible for everyone that might wish to join us? We are forming a task force to review accessibility issues at our church. After identifying areas that need improvement we will research solutions and submit a report of our findings to the Board of Trustees. If you are interested please attend a brief organizational meeting Sunday, October 16th at 2:00 PM. If you are unable to attend but still wish to participate contact Bill Childers at [email protected].

"BEYOND CATEGORICAL THINKING"  Sunday, October 23rd from 12:00 to 3:00 p.m.
It is important that congregations go into the search process with an open mind, and without a preconceived idea of the minister they want (young woman, definitely not a white male, lesbian, gay, etc.). The two workshop leaders, Joann Dale and Michael Takada themselves represent some of the diversity we seek. Beyond Categorical Thinking will help us eliminate divisive dynamics that prevent us from making our best choice together.
Lunch will be served! Please sign up if you plan to attend so that we can plan on numbers. Send an email to [email protected] to sign up. Childcare will be provided, along with lunch for the children. CLICK HERE for more information.

WHAT ROOM IS GETTING A MAKEOVER?

Our church library is getting a makeover. Kristi Mercer has volunteered to sort and shelve the books we have and will welcome new donations. Come and "check it out". There will be a donation box in the library.

SOLAR PROJECT UPDATE!
As of last Sunday we officially surpassed our minimum fundraising goal of $65,000 for the Solar Project! This generosity is just one more reason to love being part of the UUCUC community. It's not too late to be a part of the Project. Make your donation today! Checks delivered to the office should specify "Solar Project" in the memo line. Or, you can make a donation online: http://uucuc.org/give. For questions, contact Julie at [email protected]
