Our Town Grants (National Endowment for the Arts)


Fusion Shows is seeking music-loving applicants to join their team as a marketing intern for the Fall 2018 semester. Come learn a ton about the concert industry, see some great shows for free and work in a fun, fast-paced atmosphere! 

Donate your time to Helping Women Period ! You can participate in making cosmetic bags for low income & homeless women. Create simple drawstring or zipper bags to hold feminine hygiene/sanitary products. A group  will convene in the Elmwood Room of the Delta Township District Library on Aug. 17. I f you don't sew, there are other ways to help out, with plain canvas bags to decorate with fabric markers, threading drawstrings and cutting out fabric pieces. 
Supplies will be provided. If you wish to use a sewing machine, bring your own. Drop by for a moment or stay for a while! Contact Jane Reiter for more information.

Conferences, Classes and Creative Opportunities

Tedi R. Parsons will lead attendees in open dialogue about the importance of having a diverse board of directors and why this is critical to both securing funding/grants and "doing the right thing" in a smARTS workshop entitled "How to Diverisfy Your Board". Attendees will go through the five essential strategies needed to create a diverse board and/or committee. This workshop will take place Aug. 15.

"City Pulse" and the Arts Council of Greater Lansing are joining forces for City Pulse's 2018 "Summer of Art" series. The project will feature original art by area artists on "City Pulse" covers each week as available from June 27 - Aug. 29, (excluding Aug. 15 anniversary issue). Anyone who lives in Ingham, Eaton and Clinton counties may submit entries.

Public x Design Detroit Conference  

Public x Design: From Inclusion to Equity is requesting proposals for sessions at the 2018 convening in Detroit, MI. 

Session proposals will be accepted until Tuesday, July 31, 2018. To submit your proposal, please use  this form. There is no limit on how many proposals an individual may submit. They will reach out to submitters of accepted proposals in early August 2018.

You are encouraged to emphasize a subject matter focus of your choosing to overlay with the themes. This may include topics such as public health, climate change and resilience, youth, or vulnerable populations. They also welcome interdisciplinary proposals. They are especially interested in proposals that would take participants to unique locations around Detroit, and those that would facilitate hands-on workshops and learnings.

Themes for this conference include Race and Place, Sharing Inclusionary Practices, Age and Access, Learning from Failures and Data and Technology.
