Notes from the Editor:
As hard to believe as it is, when I got back online and was receiving emails again, it was just short of two weeks that I was without. They were the most stressful two weeks I can recall for a very long time. Hurricanes are worse but they don’t last anywhere near this long.
I want to give a shout out to the young man at AT&T who wouldn’t give up, Anthony Cappello. He did everything he could to solve the problem on his visit a couple of evenings ago, but when I showed him what was happening on my computer, he understood that something more had to be done. He went outside with his phone and had a lengthy discussion with someone at his office.
When he came back in, he explained that (not in his exact words) the distribution grid had been redrawn and I had landed at the end of the line, beyond the point at which I could get a signal. He must have given his boss a convincing argument, because that evening I could get and stay online, and a gazillion emails flooded my inbox. And I could watch TV.
Thank you, Anthony. You’re the kind of employee I’d like to have if I had employees.
So far, it’s still good, but I’m watching over my shoulder for the AT&T gremlins to return any minute.
So, here is an Arts Blast that’s all calendar. I’ll keep working on the next one and get it out when it’s ready. It’s taken me more than a day to get the calendar mostly up to date. Go online to willimiller.com for updates.
If you’ve emailed Arts Blast any arts information in the past two weeks, you should send it again. I fear things were lost in cyberspace. Thanks for your patience.
I plan to get my joy back by seeing A Comedy of Tenors at Riverside Theatre this weekend.
Being without a computer for so long, I will keep the drawing for a copy of The Killing of Innocents by Deborah Crombie open for another week for Arts Blast subscribes. If you've linked to this on Facebook or online, subscribe (it's free!), and follow these instructions.
SUBSCRIBERS ONLY: You have until March 2 to send a four-digit number to willi@willimiller.com. A random-number digitizer will select the winner. Only domestic (US) entries, please.
