We had quite a week of celebrations here at the school! Our week opened on our patronal Feast Day with a beautiful and well-attended Mass that included the youngest members of our school family. Upon returning to the school, students enjoyed a special feast day treat honoring St. Francis Xavier and his evangelization efforts that landed him in several Asian countries.  We are so grateful to Lisa Borges (mother of Matthew, gr.8) who prepared fried rice for 246 students plus our faculty! St. Francis Xavier, please continue to intercede for us!
The festivities continued with the tremendously popular and equally as important annual tradition of celebrating the Feast of St. Nicholas. The school hallways were lined with shoes on Wednesday evening, waiting to be filled with treats from jolly old St. Nicholas. Chocolate coins, treats and a special prayer card surprised our students on Thursday, and with the bellow of a “Ho Ho Ho” over the intercom, they knew that St. Nicholas had come for a visit as well.  Students entered the gym to see St. Nick, bringing with them their excitement and joy, as well as their selfless giving hearts that must also accompany this season. As they entered into the gym they offered their new or gently used toys to St. Nick to be given to children less fortunate than themselves. Thank you for reinforcing with your children the importance of giving this Christmas season, in a world that is more often focused on receiving . St. Nicholas then cut the ribbon to open his workshop that will be run by our 8 th graders, for the purpose of raising funds for end of year festivities. This wonderful opportunity for our students to purchase gifts for their loved ones, once again reiterates putting others first. Quick classroom visits, photo opportunities and delivering milk and delicious cookies were next on St. Nick’s agenda, finishing his visit at the school. Thanks so much to St. Nick’s helper and grade 8 student, Cianna Sylvia, who baked 200 cookies for delivery to classrooms, and Momma Elf Michelle Hamel who also made her fair share of cookies for distribution to our students.
Thank you for a great week filled with Christmas joy.
Have a great weekend-
