Students chose to participate in the first Recess Rosary,
taking place each Friday in May to honor our Blessed Mother!
My message this week comes to you from the Wylie Inn in Beverly, where I have spent the past few days “soaking in” the love of Our Resurrected Lord! I have been on a retreat, as a part of the Emmaus Leadership Series (a division of the Lynch Learning Leadership School at Boston College), which I have been a part of for almost a year now. While I “dug my heels in” a bit, and certainly felt the guilt of leaving the school behind, the time has been a welcomed change of pace, and an opportunity to be “unplugged” from the busyness of life. Last evening as a part of our closing prayer service, I received Palanca letters from faculty and students that I am so touched by and grateful for… beyond words actually. One particular third grader offered a sentiment that brought a smile to my face and offered comic relief, after reading many that had brought me to tears. It read:  “Mrs. Russo, You do so much for us. I hope your retreat is good. Don’t worry if the other principals brag about their schools. I still think ours is best.”  Absolutely priceless and too cute not to share!

The month of May is upon us, and is dedicated to Our Blessed Mother. Please join us if you are able on Monday, May 13th , immediately following Mass, as our second graders "do the honors" of crowning Our Blessed Mother here at the school. That same afternoon at 1pm, we will celebrate the joy of the resurrection with an Easter Celebration beyond measure! Classes have been practicing their songs of praise and worship and are preparing to rattle the roof with their Alleluias! Parents welcome!

I look forward to celebrating this weekend, along with many of our second grade students, as they  receive Jesus in the Eucharist for the very first time! It is such a joy to see their excitement to be united with Our Lord in this sacrament, especially when they return to join us at a school Mass.

It is imperative to stay well informed of all events and celebrations on the horizon by visiting our school website often. While the end is certainly in sight, we have miles to go before we rest, and have a great deal left to accomplish with your children. Please join us in our efforts to finish the school year strong, as we maintain an atmosphere of continued academics and excellent behavior.
Have a wonderful weekend and God bless!
~Mrs. Russo
