.07” of rain + 100° days = 25,500,000 gals of water used
We’ve had just a trace of rainfall with several days of triple digit heat this month. At the same time we’ve seen water demand steadily increase, especially on the weekends. The reason is an increase in outdoor irrigation. Water production at the Cedar Park and BCRUA water treatment plants is driven by demand. Last Wednesday, August 7, our plants produced more than 25 million gallons of water in a single day. That’s close to triple what we produced in January, a time when people typically are not irrigating their lawns.
If your usage has increased, it could push you into the higher billing tiers of $4.36 or even $5.23 per 1,000 gallons.
