Volunteer Update
January 25, 2019

|
Dear CRC Supporter,
Happy New Year from CRC!
Do you write out resolutions each year? Did you know that by volunteering, you are already able to check off some common resolutions from your list? Volunteering has been shown to reduce stress levels and decrease depression, lower blood pressure and increase life span!
See this article
from a Harvard site discussing the many health benefits of volunteering.
Thank you to all of you who plan to partner with us throughout 2019 to provide hope, counseling, food and other resources to those in need!
Warmly,
Sara Rosenbaum

Congratulations to our January Volunteer of the Month: Megan Pierson
Megan is an incredible volunteer for CRC! She served on the Registration Team for Holiday Baskets, did window displays for the San Marcos Resale Store and frequently volunteers at our Food and Nutrition Center. She sorted food at the 2018 Postal Food Drive Event and set up her own food drive at the YMCA last year on CRC’s behalf. She often steps in when a last-minute volunteer opportunity arises and always shows up with a smile and willingness to do whatever is needed. Megan is a CRC Ambassador and does it well.
Thank you to Megan for your heart of service!

CRC's Food & Nutrition Center volunteers make a positive impact
Thank you to the 180 volunteers who rotate through our Food Center to keep it open five days a week. We could not provide this service to our community without you!
CRC has resources available for those affected by the partial government shutdown who need
food assistance
. Watch CBS 8 News coverage of our Executive Director, John Van Cleef, and volunteers in our food center stepping in to help during this time.

Ambassador Training
Our next Ambassador Training is
Friday, March 1st at 3:00 pm at CRC.
CRC Ambassadors represent CRC in the community at resource fairs, schools and other events. They get opportunities to take on leadership roles for our special events and spearhead fundraising efforts.
Videographer for FNC Training Video
Novice or professional help needed to put together a short video training for our FNC Volunteers! Currently, our training is done through our Volunteer Handbook and on-site training. We would love to have a video as well.
Integrative Services Janitorial Help
1-2 volunteers needed to clean our Integrative Services Offices on Wednesdays. Due to heavy traffic from our clients, the office needs more than what our once-a-week service provides.
If you would like information on any of these opportunities, please email Volunteer Manager, Sara Rosenbaum at

CRC relies on Grant Funding to provide nearly 17% of its income each year. Many Corporate Grants are only available when the organization is nominated by an employee.
Currently, we are looking for a connection to employees from Maximus Corporation and with Datron World Communications, Inc.
If you know someone employed by one of these two companies, please email their name, employer, and contact information to
Richard Radosh, Development Grants Manager
. CRC would welcome the opportunity to apply for grants from these generous corporate citizens to support CRC’s core programs providing safety, stability and self-sufficiency to low income individuals and families in north county San Diego. Thank you!
