Youth N.O.W. | March 2021
Sunny Days Ahead
Spring is near and as we celebrate 11 years we'd like to thank YOU for being part of this incredible journey! With the flowers in bloom we can’t help but think how our own relationships have truly flourished over time. It’s been a joy to serve the youth in our community and collaborate with many local amazing organizations. We are so thankful for all your support and look forward to what’s to come!
We are currently serving close to 100 students with the help from 50 volunteers and one intern! Our Learning Center Coordinators have been hard at work training incoming volunteers to make more student matches. What's pretty neat is that a virtual platform has actually allowed us to work with a wider range of volunteers from around the community and some even joining us from out of state (Arizona, Illinois, & more!).
With sunnier days ahead we have some fun outdoor activities planned for our youth! In two weeks, we’ll be partnering with our friends from Ventana Wilderness Alliance - Youth in Wilderness to take our students on a hike through Arroyo Seco. We will continue to host our Family Art Days on the second Saturday of every month and hold our weekly basketball clinics. Although our tutoring services will be closed for Spring Break we will be holding a student bike ride and offer a special Basketball Clinic for the week.

Students of the Month:
Destiny - 8th Grade
Rolling Hills Middle School

When asked what her favorite thing about Youth N.O.W. is Destiny said she likes the relationships she has been able to build through this program with the other students and staff.
Destiny's perseverance and dedication to Youth N.O.W has earned her the title of Student of the Month! Destiny is an eighth grade student who is attending Rolling Hills Middle School. We have had the privilege of working with Destiny for the past few years when she first joined Youth N.O.W in 6th grade. Despite the challenge of working virtually, Destiny has shown her commitment to her education by always showing up on time, prepared, and ready to learn. We admire how Destiny is flexible and always willing to sign online for extra help. As of now, Destiny is still exploring her options and keeping an open mind of what she hopes for in the future. During her free time, Destiny enjoys watching TV and spending quality time with her family. Her tutor, Maritza, admires the drive Destiny has and how she is able to push herself. Her tutor Mayra says “ I am so happy I have been able to work with Destiny this past year! She is a wonderful student and I’m so excited to see where she will go!” Congratulations from all of us Destiny, we are so proud of you!
Emiliano - 10th Grade
St. Francis High School

“Thank you Youth N.O.W. for helping me with my school work and helping me improve on subjects that I had a hard time with.”
- Emiliano
Emiliano’s determination and cheerfulness to want to learn more has earned him the title of Student of the Month! Emiliano always comes prepared to his tutoring sessions with the excitement to learn. He sets a good example for other students and has considerable abilities in navigating difficult or decisive topics. He has generated an atmosphere of respect and what strikes us the most is how quickly he adapts when faced with new challenges. It is simply in his nature. He is an honest student and we are confident that he will not have any trouble in the upcoming years. Emiliano likes to go outside and play sports such as football, basketball, and soccer. He also enjoys playing video games when he is done with all of his homework. When it comes to choosing a career path, Emiliano has recently been interested in nursing. Whichever path he takes we know he will continue to do great things! Congratulations Emiliano!
