Cheers and Tears
"It was the best of times and the worst of times."
Charles Dickens said long ago.
How true this is with Easter Sunday
It was a time of highs and lows.
There were cheers as Christ rode the donkey
Into the city to meet His fate.
People came from far and near
Running so not to be late.
To see this prophet, this Son of God,
That He did claim to be.
Many He had touched and had healed
So this Jesus they wanted to see...
But cheers soon turned into tears
As they saw this Jesus tried,
He was sentenced, beaten, and scourged for us,
Then he was crucified.
Both cheers and tears are a part of
This Easter Sunday day.
Cheers because He does love us
Tears for our world today.
